Hello all. Just got me a CR-V yesterday, 2008 4WD Silver EX. Beautiful vehicle! Love it! I'll post pics when I take some

I scoured the Manual and the other info they gave, and couldn't find good answers to 3 questions. First, what the heck is the courtesy light for? Whats the speaker looking thing right below the courtesy light? And what's the average mileage that Honda recommends for an maintenance (the manual says something about the first oil change not needing to be done for longer than usual, but doesn't specify when I should start thinking about it).

That's all I can think of for now. Glad to be part of the CR-V Owners Club!

Found my answer to the courtesy light and speaker. Sorry if it's been asked a few hundred times...

"The speaker is probably for models with voice-activated navigation (on EX-L with Navigation) and/or bluetooth hands-free systems (not available in US)."

"It is called ambient console lighting, and its purpose is to apply a slight amount of illumination to the console (or lame tray) area to allow one to see objects without turning on the map or interior lights but dim enough not interfere with your night vision.

Its other purpose is to look very sexy and give the car a faint romantic appeal."

Still don't know about maintenance schedule

Your Maintenance Minder system will tell you when you need to do the "routine" changes of all fluids and tire rotations. There are no specific numbers given and you can estimate between 6k-10k miles before your first change depending on how YOU drive YOUR vehicle.

There has been a lot more ink spilled on the Maintenance Minder on this forurm than the console ambient lighting. Search the site for Maintenance Minder when you have a couple of hours with nothing to do.

Welcome to the club and congratulations on your new V!

I know all your questions are answered but I just wanted to say welcome! I have the same CR-V as you and I love it more every time I drive it!! Good luck!
