Hi Everyone,
I am currently looking into the 2009 CR-V and am also going to be getting a Golden Retriever. How much room is left in the trunk for luggage if a full-sized dog is in there? It was tough to tell in the showroom - would the dog fit comfortably lengthwise in the trunk with luggage beside it?
Thanks very much!

There are a few variable you need to consider; seats up or down, type of luggage (soft bags or hard cases), how many people will also be riding? To say will a large dog fit with the sits up AND luggage may be a stretch. Good luck shopping.

We carry two mid size labs and can still put a couple of bags of groceries with them (must remember to tell them to stay out of the bags). I wouldn't do this for a long trip as it does crowd them some.

Will your dog be in a crate, or loose in the back? A crate might mean you can put a little more luggage in the cargo area because you could stack some stuff on top of the crate.
Our dogs don't handle crates well at all, and because the cargo area is not safe for passengers (I think it's designated a "crumple zone"), we have a seat cover for the back seat and they sit there for long trips, wearing harnesses that are connected to the seatbelts. That way we have the entire cargo area for cargo, and the dogs are safely in the back seat. Obviously this won't work if you have actual humans to carry in those seats, but it works for us! :D

My English springer is very happy with this set up from Travall.com

I'm really liking that setup. We've been in search of the "perfect" dog barrier and this looks to be it.

We bought one of the Thule roof bags and put our luggage in there. That way the dogs have plenty of comfort and opportunities to jump into the front seats unannounced.

I haul 3 labs in the back of my '08 most every where I go- this with the rear seats in place. With the seats folded there is plenty of luggage room, even with the dogs.

My dogs either travel on one of the seats or my lap. (small Yorkies) So plenty of cargo space for us. Good luck.
