I own a 2006 Civic Si. I love the power, the 6 speed manual trans, and being Galaxy Grey, it is very stealthy. I have been considering trading for a CR-V for the entry height, the cargo space, and love the look of the vehicle also.
I am torn because I feel I will miss the extra power and definitely miss the manual shift. Since I'm in my 40's the higher ground clearance is easier to get into and easier to load and unload cargo. Also, the V is a better passenger vehicle and would be great for camping and road trips with the family.
I have read just about every thread on this forum and it seems the top end power is considered adequate. The Si is a great little car for navigating traffic and getting in front of the pack for a little breathing room.
Has anyone traded to the CR-V from an Si or other standard shift "buzz mobile"? Were you happy with the change? or do you wish that you stayed with that little jewel?

Hi
I recently traded in my 99 Prelude for an 08 CR-V. The Prelude was very quick (my husband loved to get it past 100) and easy to drive, but it was time for a change. I was tired of having no room and it was HORRIBLE in snow. I also love the look of the CR-V, and the fact that it is a Honda made me want to test drive one even more. I was unsure about the whole SUV thing at first, but I fell in love with it the minute I drove it. I am so happy with my decision. My husband wasn't sure in the beginning until he went for a ride, but he loves it now as well. I have so much more room, I love being able to see when driving, and it is very easy and fun to drive. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

hi the closest thing that i had to a "buzz mobile" was a 2005 scion xb(accualy my parents car but they were unsure how my V would hold up). it was fun to drive. i love my CR-V it is a 1998 with 173000+ miles on it. and it has the B20 2.0 litre I4 with 126hp, and the new V's hace the 2.4 litre with 166hp i think. hopefully this is enough power for you. my father was looking for a new car last year so we went to test drive an S2000 the dealer let us drive the car together without a salesman. bring your whole family and ask if you can drive a used 07 or 08 model crv mabe they will say okay.

if you can afford to keep the Si and get a cr-v also... that would be the best way. going from an Si 6-speed to a cr-v, you will definitely miss the Si and probably go nuts waiting for the cr-v to get up to speed.
i used to drive an 03 corolla 5-speed, it's no Si but enough to make it a fun car to drive. when i got the cr-v, the first 2 weeks or so... i was ripping my hair out each time i need to accelerate quickly. :D
over time, i got used to it and i learn to time my acceleration. :D
if u want similar power as the Si and neck-breaking torque - look at the rav4 (v6) as you won't find it in a cr-v. :D

Hi,
I just purchased a 2008 CR-V EX 4wd. We used to own a 2007 Fit and a 2007 Civic Si sedan. I sold both of those cars and bought the CR-V instead. It has more room and when we decided to go from two cars to one, we knew the CR-V was our car. I miss my Si dearly and nothing will come close to the pleasure it gave me. I still ride my Kawi ninja sportbike, so that helps to soften the pain of selling the Si. We love the CR-V and made the right choice. It is a blend of everything we wanted in a vehicle. Got a great deal too :)

here are some other suv that you might like these are all based on 2008 Car and Driver reviews.
1) Acura RDX 2.3 liter I4 turbo 240hp/260 tourque
2) Hyuandi Tuscan/Kia sportage 2.7 liter V6 173hp/178 tourque
3) Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3 liter V6 242hp/226 tourque
4) Mazda Cx-7 2.3 liter I4 turbo 244kp/258 tourque
5) Toyota Rav4 3.5 liter V6 269hp/246 tourque
6) Subaru Forester 2.5 liter I4 trubo 224hp/226 tourque
Hyundai is the 3rd best car company in the world (Porche/Lexus) they also have the best warrantees and there cars are cheaper.
Acura is nice if you have the money to throw around and stay with Honda.
The Mazda is a modified Ford Motor depends if you like Ford's reputation for quality.
Toyota is a great company and the car is very smooth .
the Subaru is really a wagon but it is very sporty.
The Honda CR-V has modest power when compared to these cars i just wanted to give you some more options.

I had a 1997 Civic Coupe with a JDM type R and a 1988 Honda CRX with a fully built ls/vtec setup that ran a 12.8 sec quarter mile. Then I switched to my CR-V and I never regretted it once its worth the switch

gee, i guess i kind of have the best of both worlds- we have an '08 cr-v ex and an '07 civic ex 5 speed. i usually drive the civic and she uses the cr-v. i, too, like the gear shifting and nimbleness of a car. the cr-v is about as sporty as a bigger vehicle can be. i like them both for the obvious differences.

i traded in my 00' integra typeR for a Cr-V.
There is no other FF 1.8 4cyl car that can compare to that. i still itch for the speed. but the V is very reliable and more practicle for more applications. if you can keep the si and get the Cr-V, do it !! if not, at least you have a versitile vehicle and its still a HONDA.
