2002 Interior Lighting

I just bought a 2002 Honda CR-V and I can't figure out how to get the interior lights to turn on when I open the door. I keep scrabbling for my purse in the dark. How can I fix that?

The dome light has a 3 position switch. OFF, ON and ON with door open. If it doesn't come on when in the ON with door open position, your driver's door switch may be faulty. Since it gets more use than the other doors, it is generally the first one to go bad. Press the switch in/out a few times and see if the light comes on. Also try the other doors to see if the light comes on when you open them. Don't put the dome light in the ON position and walk away from the car. After a few hours you will have a dead battery.
