Hi all,
Here is a really dumb question, but I'll ask anyway (I'm an educator and firmly believe that the only truly dumb questions are the unasked ones) - if I press the "lock" button once on my key to lock my vehicle, is the security system engaged, or do I need to press the button a second time (and sound the really loud horn)? I'd prefer to avoid alarming the neighbors late at night if possible, but I don't want to not engage the security system. Please advise (and feel free to poke fun - I don't mind as long as I have my answer). Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Chris

Press lock button once to lock all doors and the second time only to verify that everything is locked and the alarm is on.I only hit it twice if I can't remember hitting it the first time.(getting old sucks)

I myself press the lock button 1, 2 until the horn makes a beep then it should be completely locked and security is active!

You only need to press the button once to lock and activate the alarm, twice is only to reassure you that you did hit it once so the horn sounds. You only need to do it twice if you don't like your neighbours.

If you are in the US and have a 2007 or newer EX or EX-L, then you have a security system. If you have an 2007 or new LX or any stock CR-V 2006 or older, you only have keyless entry (unless you opted for the optional alarm).

07+ LX and up models, all have keyless entry and immobilizer.

press it once, it locks up all doors. press 2x, the horn will sound confirming you have locked the doors for LX. higher models confirm you have locked doors AND turned on alarm.
you dont need to press 2x. once is enough.
but i guess some people forget whether they have turned on the system or not and some people feels better to hear that horn beep to confirm.

I like to hit it twice to upset my neighbor who sees nothing wrong with her flavors of the month (yes there's more than one) all revving open piped Harley Davidson bikes at 2am, 3am, and 4am, three to four days a week. I figure if she's up and doing god knows what at those hours then she is probably fast asleep at 7am. SO I chirp it a few times before I even GET IN!!!! Next up...air horns.

LOL I actually can hear the soft click if I'm near the vehicle when I press the button once. Hubby says that is really odd cause I AM hard of hearing and am suppose to wear a hearing aid all the time. Hear that click just fine without the hearing aid.
