Have had our EX-4WD since October; have experienced problems starting about six times... when turning key to start position nothing happens..returning key to off and retrying it starts..?? Has never failed to start but this condition coupled with the fact that the starter turns over slowly has me crossing my fingers with the weather turning COLD..!! Battery connections appear/feel tight..condition color is "blue"...
Any thoughts..??

Do you have any other keys or key fobs or remotes attached to your 07 key?
If so, you may be affecting the immobilizer. Try keeping the 07's key completely separate from any other keys or remotes.

Nothing on the key...BTW..just this PM discovered a site, while on Edmunds.com, called CarSpace(an Edmunds site)...there were several other 07 CR-V owners having the same problem...Posted the problem there but no response as yet...Thanks...

I have experienced the same condition. At first I thought it was just me (or the way I was trying to start the car). Based on this trhead, it sounds a little more common.

I've had mine since October and have experienced the same thing - every now and then - I asked one of the techs at an owner's workshop - he had not heard of it either - and unfortunately the only way they could start to look into it is if it happened while they had it.

I have my 07 CR-V since Oct. also and have the same problem. I took it to the dealership and said they can't find anything wrong with it!

I used to have the bad habit of "turn the key all the way to start" when I'd start my vehicles. I broke that habit real quick when I read on my Silverado forums about how bad that can be for a fuel pump. Now I turn the key until I hear the fuel pump stop running and then turn the engine over.
I know on Chevy's the fuel pump will prime the system when the key is turned to "on". You can hear the pump running for a split second. With my new CR-V I can't swear I'm hearing the pump running (there's some kind of electric motor noise but can't pin down what it is) but I always wait for the gas guage to finish it's little "start up" routine before I turn the engine over. Once guages finish their sweep pattern and come to rest is when the engine is ready to start.
My boss at work turned the key all the way to crank right off the bat when he was checking out my car yesterday and I flinched. I resisted the urge to tell him not to do that! He doesn't listen to me anyway.

As to the Silverado, it isn't BAD on the fuel pump to do it, it just won't start as quickly. Same with nearly any modern vehicle with fuel injection. The fuel system needs to pressurize.

Hi, I own a 2006 CRV 34000 Km, I start having same problem with starter a month ago just once and forget about it now it happened three days in a row at any moment. I took it today to dealer here in Honduras, Central America. It seems is the first time they hear about this happening but I am trying to do as much research as I can because while I was there they try to replicate the event and couldnt. It has nothing to do with the immobiliser since as Honda Tecnicall Bullentins explain this immobilizer act on the ECU not the starter. If it was the inmobilizer Engine will crank but wont ignite.
I believe it must be the relay that is behind the glove compartment. Let you know what happens.

We bought a used 2005 CRV in may this year. The starter on it is slow and noisy but the battery indicator shows ok. I have listened to other Hondas with the same engine and they sound the same. What Honda needs is a good Bosch starter or 2nd best a Denso ( could be Nipon with the Denso) I did put in synthetic oil for easier winter starting.
