Dear All,

This is my story;
I went with two of my friends to the desert in saudi arabia and we had FJ cruiser & Rav4 and my CRV, it wes a fun & amazing trip.

I got shocked when i try my CRV it was not that good, i was stuck 4 times in very soft sand and i am realy confused about the 4wd in the car . when i got stucked in the sand the front wheels were moving but not with the rear wheels. what is the use of automatic 4wd in the CRV so? To avoid stucking in the sand you have to move fast like 40-50km/h and some times you feel that the car gets tired. The Rav4 has a button to switch on the 4wd but it will be switched of when you exceed 40km/h but at least it's find so far, the FJ crouser it's something else it's more than perfect.

My question is; how to know the 4wd is working or not in the CRV 2007 if thers is no button or a sign in the car?

Please some body answer me.

Thanks in advance...

You can find detailed description in here

Next time you are in sand the only thing you can do is lower tire pressure (I would go as low as 15-20 psi or even less), just don't forget re inflate once back on asphalt.
Honda CRV is capable little ute, just don't confuse it with real 4x4 - it's not designed or intended to do any serious 4wheeling. It will get you safe home in burbs during snow storm but that's pretty much it. It does not have high ground clearance, low gear or locking differential. It also have independent suspension which lowers you ground clearance when moving so watch for those rocks on the road.
Good luck

The 4WD system is automatic. You want to know the best way to get it to come on? turn off the VSA and floor it.

I think that the automatic 4WD is really used for a mild off road excursion or for all weather driving capability.

Air down your tires next time, that will help a lot.

A CR-V is never going to do as well in sand as a FJ Cruiser, just so you know....

Thank you all for your answers.

What I did is exactly lowered my tires pressure to 18.

Any way, it's a nice to try the crv.

How do you turn off the VSA?

How do you turn off the VSA?

If you lowered the pressure in your tires and your vehicle has TPMS the VSA will not disengage. You will have to pull the VSA fuse.

If you did NOT lower the pressure in your tires, all you have to do is hit the VSA button.

If you don't understand anything I just said you need to read your owners manual...
