Spark plugs

For my 2005 CRV, I put in Bosch Platinum with type as recommended by Bosch. I was in the Accord forum and some were saying they didn't work well. Well they work fine in my vehicle. Before we got the CRV, I was in the Allpar site and some people had problem with the Bosch. What happened was the Bosch with the multiple ground contacts didn't work well for some. I use the ones with only one ground contact without problems. I know the manual says Iridium plugs only - what are other forum members using?

On both Honda forums I visit the general consensus is to stick with the OEM plugs. Bosch have been troublesome after a few thousand miles....

X3

Actually I think the OEM are NGK (but they might be Denso).

The Iridiums last a good long time because the tiny center electrode stays "sharp" promoting a good spark.

Last time I bought Honda OEM they were $12 each, kinda got sticker shock from that!

But NAPA sells genuine NGK for about $8 a plug. Might have to order them in...

Too Bad! :o

As a point of reference, our site sponsor H and A shows the NGK Iridiums for the US-Spec K24 engine with a list price of $18.08 USD apiece.
Discounted to $13.56...

I hear Bosch work fine with German and American cars and are not recommended for Japanese cars; I always but the NGK for $2 each and happy with them on my 92 Accord; I may have to buy the expensive ones with the 08 CRV.

The Bosch single ground electrode plugs are running fine in our CRV. Good starting and smooth idle. I can put in 5 sets of platinum for the cost of one set of Iridium plugs from the dealer. Notice I put in SINGLE ground electrode plugs. Some people have had problems with Bosch multiground electrode plugs in other makes of vehicles.

we will see how long it lasts. Never use bosch or multi prong spark plugs in a honda b or d series engine.

The engine is k24a1 according to my factory manual. I had the plugs out when I set the tappets and insulator color is same as the Iridium plugs that came out - heat range correct. The dealer wanted $25 /plug - bit more then I wanted to pay.

getting plugs at advanced is ok, if they are NGK's.
