I need a "dumb" key for my 2007 CR-V that doesn't have any electronics and can get wet. By "wet" I mean that I need to take the "dumb" key with me underwater when I go scuba diving. All I need the key to do is unlock the door so I can get to the real key I hid inside the cabin.
Does anyone know if a "dumb" key is available from Honda? I know I can buy additional "real" keys from Honda, but I'm leaving this as my last option.
A co-worker suggested Street Keys, but their website doesn't list the 07 CR-V. I sent them an email and will share their info with the group. Can someone recommend a similar company? I'm in Miami, FL but anywhere in South Florida would be outstanding.
Thanks,
Ralph

Mine came with a valet key.....it is just a plain key....no buttons on it......and the owner's manual says it doesn't have a battery......I would think that it would be able to get wet.

Thanks, tayjenn. I may resort to using the valet key since I received this disappointing response from Street Keys:
"At this time we don't have key info for this car and until we do we can't help you.

I'll keep looking and post the results of my research.

The valet key makes sense.

Wait a second. As far as I know the valet key does have the chip in it, to allow the engine to start, but it will not unlock the glove compartment.
(I haven't actually used mine. Probably a good idea to try it. :D )

But it doesn't have a battery and remote xmitter - that's the key. (no pun intended) It should be able to get wet, just like a GM key with the resistor in it.

That's just for the immobilizer. It's safe to go underwater. My '00 Prelude had the system, and the keys were normal.
