I'm planning on taking a ride over to Western Maryland tomorrow and hitting up the Poplar lick trail if anyone is interested in tagging along. The Poplar Lick trail is a free OHV trail set aside by the national park service with a beginning difficulty rating (meant for stock SUVs with 4x4).
If anyone is interested for tomorrow, send me a PM and we can exchange information. I know it's short notice, but I figured it was worth a shot.
Also, if anyone is interested in going at a later time let me know and I can maybe set up a meet. :)
Here is some information on the trail with the address.

Here's a more detailed review with step by step directions.

Here's another site with a few images, the trail has several water crossings, but from the looks of things...they aren't very big.

Even with the meaty tires I'd still be afraid of getting in over my head. Josh, I know you have all sorts of incredible video equipment, be sure to make a video!!! :)
Anyone else have any information on this trail?

I think in pairs there wouldn't be much to worry about. From the looks of the pictures, the trail surface is compact. So the only time I'd be worried would be when actually crossing water, or losing traction on wet leaves and sliding sideways.
Oh and I'm going to take pictures and video for everyone to see. The pictures are for school (putting the CR-V on the front of an Offroad Mag).

I don't think I'd be too worried about water crossings unless it was very rocky. For my G2 I'd be worried most about ground clearance and open differentials...
I can't wait for the video though!!!

Well, I have to check on how much it rained tonight for that area. But the rain might have increased the water's depth and possibly waterlogged the banks.

lol the trail is rated for inexperienced drivers, a family scenic drive, and stock SUVs.
But I understand your caution, I'm a little nervous due to the weather. And I must find another vehicle to go with.
but no worries, I'm sure I'll find someone.
That looks very cool...I'd definitely be interested this summer!
please post some pics! I looked at the sites, but did not read....how long is this trail?
I was browsing one of the sites... do you know of any that are rated easy that are located in NC?
Thanks!

The poplar lick trail is roughly 5 miles long or 3-4 hours time wise.
Sorry I don't know of any trails off the top of my head, but if you do a quick google search with keywords such as "ORV trail in North Carolina" or "OHV trail in North Carolina"... A lot of the organized pay trails are out of the question to the V because they require hard mounted tow hooks and locking 4x4
Hope you find something :) and be sure to follow any and all rules the trail might have.

I am thinking that trail might be much for a CR-V. All the pictures I see have Yota's which some are not OEM.

Fox22 has got to be the most experience driver I know when it comes to offroading in the CR-V. I will try to find more pictures of the trail, but from the review it sounds like it is an zero maintenance road without bridges.

I postponed it, but I did go exploring up into PA, drove around for 9 hours and wandered about 160 miles up.
I'll post some pics, I found a few logging roads and no winter maintenance roads that were fun.
Got stuck once when I was fooled by my GPS. There was snow on the ground and I was following the gps and the there was a gate across the road. I saw a spot where people had been going around the gate so I tried to, but a fresh coat of ice on top of the snow made it difficult. The front wheels fell through the layer of ice and lost all traction on all 4 wheels. Was a new experience for me. ABS light came on, and my two friends had to get out and push me out.

It was definitely a lot of fun. The "No winter maintenance" roads made me very impressed with the RTAWD and the General Grabbers, going up a mountain in 5 inches of snow and without any slipping. I could see spots where other vehicles had lost control, but I had no problems what-so-ever.
I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Keep safe, keep warm, and give the V some lovin' in this cold weather too :)
