Silly I know...but I am getting quite attached to mine. When referring to it I call it the V......"So, you want to take the V out tonight or your car?" My boyfriend just calls it the Honda. Just curious to see if people are nuts like I am.

I call it "The CR-V". When I got it, I had "The Integra" ('92), the "The Honda" ('96 Accord), and the bimmer which my wife calls "Gidget". I sold the Acura, so we were down to "Honda", "Gidget", and "CR-V". Then a couple of weeks ago, I got rear ended in the Accord and it got totalled.
Now, I may change it from "The CR-V" to "The Honda". Time will tell.
I just got my 1999 ex yesterday and I call him Kermit. :D

All my cars have had names. A small tribute to my sister. Long story...anyway,
Car #1 Nelly (Nissan)
Car #2 Lance (Nissan)
Car #3 Hot Shot (CR-V)
My daughter picked the name. Although, 'The V' seems to slip out more often then Hot Shot.

I always name all of my cars too. Our g35 is named Gia and my old civic was Tino. :)

And we call my Civic Coupe "Cindy".

The trouble with naming your vehicle is that it creates heart ache when it is time to part with it. My wife loved our recent departed mini van Vincent Van Go and was insisting that we keep it forever. The van had reached the age of Jean Claude Damn Van in maintenance costs and I was trying to find a way to ease the pain of parting. I was looking at a 2007 EX in Nighhawk Black Pearl. I fell in love with it, but I could barely get her to sit in it. (This is the the first time since 1970 that I have feel in love with vehicle, the rest of the vehicles had the excitement of buying a washer machine). My wife is a Pirates of The Caribbean fan and as we were leaving At The Worlds End, it struck me, call the new CR-V the Black Pearl. That helped. When I decided to buy the car, I bought a black pearl pendant necklass. The first time my wife sat in the car, I told her to open the upper glove compartment. There was the black pearl pendant in a small black box. That helped too. I am still in the doghouse for getting rid of her beloved Vincent, but she is coming around.
Only have had the car two days and I love it with exception of the headlights on low beam (did they put shades on top of the headlights) and indeed the arm rests are terrible. I will say that Vincent was a far more comfortable vehicle, sort of like an old shoe.

You are so right! The reason I got a cr-v was because someone rear ended my beloved Tino (96 civic ex). I loved that car so much and didn't want to let him go.
When I went to the collision center to take off some after market parts, I cried when I saw him, I cried when I left him. I even wrote him a note and left it in the glove box. Poor Valentino aka Tino! :(
I feel your wife's pain. I think the the black pearl is an awesome name though.

That's what I said! It was pouring down raining and Tino didn't even slide or anything. I took care of him and he took care of me. He drove like a brand new car. (to me) The insurance adjusters said that the interior was flawless and the engine was super clean!
I still miss him, but Kermit is starting to fill the void!

"Vincent Van Go" *lol* This English teacher loves the play on words. I'm picking up my new 2007 CRV tomorrow! I'll report back on the name as soon as I find out what sticks.

"I think the the black pearl is an awesome name though."
I owe that to Honda's paint namers. I also briefly considered bullbat which likewise is related to the paint name, but Black Pearl seemed more elegant.
Kermit was the name of our froggy looking 90 Ford Tempo, Kermit the Ford.

I've been kicking this idea around since I got my V at the begining of March. at first I hoped to find a name that started w/ V, for obvious reasons. Then I came to the realization that V was not the best letter in the alphabet to work with (play Scattergories for proof).
Anyway, I've always been one to do things that mean something, at least to me, so I brain stormed on a name and the other night while I was sitting outside looking at him it came to me...Harvey, or Har-V if you will.
The name has meaning to me in that his name sake is Harvey Dent, or Two-face, from Batman, for those that aren't familiar.
The name makes sense to me because the V is an everyday driver that I can take clients out with, still have enough room for all my work stuff, and 4 adults fit during the week. And when the weekend gets here I can go just about anywhere I want, I can throw the canoe on top or load it up w/ camping gear and be off to anywhere I want. Which also includes hauling a kitchen table and new TV this weekend.
I guess it would be fair to say the unbelievable versitility of this vehicle prompted the name.

Not since the Henry J has such imagination or effort been applied to the naming of an automobile. It would apply to the 07 as well. Sometimes I look at the front end of mine and think "Good God that thing is wretched looking" and other times I think "Yeah it is kind of cool."

Like some of you all, I've always named my cars too. My first car, a 89 Nissan Sentra, was Sweetpea. Next, I had a 03 Tacoma, which my husband named Caroline. Now, my V is called Squeak. Coming from the truck, the V was more agile and being smaller could fit into tighter spaces, and my husband commented that it could "squeak" right into anywhere I took it. He was right, and I thought the name Squeak was cute, so it stuck. I'm in the process of getting personalized plates that say PGSQK (short for Pig's Squeak; my nickname is Piggy).

We call the wife's 04 "Piggy" because of her love for all things PIG. Many of her pigs are antique, farm-oriented type stuff. She even has a pig wallpaper on her cell phone...

How cute! My husband calls me Piggy because I love to eat. I have a really fast metabolism, so I get hungry every three hours or so. Luckily for me (and him!) I love to cook. I love piggy stuff too. I actually collected pig stuff when I was young, but stopped before I started dating my husband. Once he decided to call me Piggy I started collecting again. Right now, we have a wood carved pig that we take turns hiding for each other. A few days ago I found the pig next to the milk when I went to have my cereal. Tomorrow, he is going to find the pig in his sock drawer!

After referring to it as the van,the truck, the car,I thought it's the vehicle. Clint Eastwood said "you don't mess with a mans vehicles" hence the V-hicle.

I am having a hard time thinking of a name for my new 2006 "V" as well. This thread has helped expand my creativity though. Since I got her on Halloween (yesterday) and she is black, maybe that could be a theme. Or maybe she (or he) will just tell me its name if I wait... :)

I wanted a black one really really really badly. I wanted a black one because I already had a name picked out if it was black... Obsidian
Obsidian is a very deep black "lava looking" rock. Usually they are found in rock shops after being heavily polished. I had planned on calling him "Sid" for short. I suppose I wouldn't be too upset if you were to use that namieology for your new black CR-V.

Her name is "Ellen". Hopefully this explanation doesn't offend anyone, and if it does I'm sorry, but the guys at the car stereo shop that I work part time at on the weekends insist the CR-V is a lesbian car. It's even funnier when you look at my CR-V sitting next to my wifes Pilot. Anyway, I stopped fighting them on the issue and decided to name her Ellen, after Ellen DeGeneres. Really it is O.K., since I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body anyway ;). Thanks.

I used to name my cars based on what was in the license plate...my last having JKE so it was Jake. With the CR-V I have nothing to work on but when I am on my own and charging though the countryside it is "Black Thunder" :D . Being an aviation fan I also toyed with "Blackbird" but the fact that the shape of the CR-V is so far from the aircraft it is pushing artistic license a wee bit too far I think. So the official name remains undecided!
I agree with other posts, The Black Pearl is an amazing name!

So my Mom said I oughta call it "CRis". Works for me. :)

This is a neat thread.
I talked about this a few weeks ago in another thread when we first got the new 08 CRV.
We named our 04 CRV "Weasel" because Soichiro Honda was respectfully nicknamed Weasel in his youth. We wanted to name the 08 Weasel too, but wanted to use the correct Japanese nickname which, thanks to members of this forum, we think is Itachi-san.
So out of admiration for Soichiro Honda, our present CRV is, we hope respectfully, named Itachi-san.

I'm hopping on this kinda late, but I called my green '98 Yoshimi, after the Flaming Lips album "Yoshimi Battles the Giant Pink Robots." I named it that because whenever I hear that album, it reminds of last summer when we were cruising around in Jackson Hole, WY. I was a wildlife biologist there, and I had to drive about 100 miles a day to keep track of our grouse and whatnot, so I'd roll down the windows and crank the Lips in my lean mean field machine!
Ironically, Yoshimi "died" while I was listening to the same album on Feb. 15 when we were struck by a semi while traveling on the interstate. RIP Yoshimi!!

I just got my CR-V yesterday, and I named her Sage as making the change from the Ridgeline to a CR-V I felt was a wise choice for me.
Now, on to the customizations and personalizations...
Just curious. Any of the newer members named their CRV?
Of course I mean more or less permanent endearing nick names, not the informal (and on this forum unpublishable) names some of us quickly give our cars in certain recurring circumstances.

My 1998 Bravada is "Johnny Bravo" of course
My 2003 GMC Sonoma was named "Haus"
My 2008 Vue Redline awd is named "Red"

I call my car Sage, after a fictional Transformers character. She is a very wise, and stealthy, ninja-esque character that can transform and strike so quickly she can barely be seen.
I called my Ridgeline Brawn, because he was very brawny.
My Tundra was called Roadbuster, as I drove it a lot and busted up a lot of roads.
When I saw this thread I thought it was really funny because it reminded me of what my late wife and I would do, we named our pets after cars. There was Mercedes (English Mastiff), Hummer (Black Lab), Jaguar (siamese cat), Lexus (Sheltie), Kia (Chiachuwa, sic.), Beamer (teacup daschond) and some other ones I forgot. I only time we departed from the theme was with the opossum we had; that was George.
My girlfriend and I did have a name for a car she bought and it was Rita and was named after Hurricane Rita which came thru (by) the Houston area in 2005. She was working in the bar then and her bar was the only one that did not lose its power in the area and everyone went there after the threat had passed; she made a bunch of tips which she used as part of the downpayment.
My CRV (she says hers) is jokingly refered to as Baby Durango since it looks like it just came out of the hatch of her Dodge Durango. The body lines are somewhat similiar; both are black and they accesorized similar.

Ok! We will play along. My wife has always named her rides, starting with her '84 Civic, "Saki" then our '98 Odyssey, "Odie" then our '98 GL1500 SE Gold Wing, "Saki II" and now our '08 CR-V, Boo. It's Glacier Blue. One of her girlfriends has the same colour and she calls it "Boo Boo". My wife even says, when she sees another Glacier Blue CR-V, look there's Boo's sister or there's another Boo. Please don't start another poll asking for husband and wife pet names, that would be just to creepy,

Hi there, love the responses and just stumbled on this thread.
I call my 2000 CRV "SnowFox" Coz I bought her in winter 2005 and she saved me from a bad wreck the first week I had her, by a controlled AWD spin-out in some snow and ice.
Since then, she has shown me how well she does in snow, ice, mud, sand, gravel and water. Amazing little hottie. Love her to death. Here she is...

First known as "Honda Chick," but now known as Tohru.
My wife dubbed her with both names. The first after having ridden with me over to Seattle with "that chick" telling me where to turn. The second because she needed a better name. And yes, her Glacier Blue fits the V well.

"Voilą! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."

I either use the "VCR" or "Crashwagon". The VCR was coined for me at least by a friend in high school one day when my truck was blocked in one morning and I had to get to school. I pulled up and he was like "dude, nice VCR" and I have been using it since.
Crashwagon is pretty self explanatory. My V has been on its roof in the last year.
