Hi everyone, back in November I bought a new CRV. I have been lurking around reading the wealth of knowledge contained here. Anyway I saw several posting reguarding Brigstone tires, the tires that are on my CRV and the postings were for the most part negative. Well last Saturday we got 13 inches of snow and I decided to go to the high school parking lot and test them. I accelerated very quickly and the car went straight and fast! I was very pleased, no spinning or swerving just smooth acceleration. Since there was no spinning I dont think the 4WD even kicked in.
One question that I do have would be on coasting. When I let off of the gas pedal it feels like I am towing a small trailer or have low tire pressure. Yes the CRV is in the correct gear D. It seems strange that the vehicle does not coast, is this normal?
Glad to be aboard.

Eye up your tach when you feel the resistance to coasting. It is probably the grade logic control downshifting, which is normal. Gears 4 and 5 are overdrive gears. The grade logic control going down hills will down shift and use engine braking to hold back your speed. When this happens you will see the tach jump up. I rather despise the feature myself. Living in hilly western Pennsylvania I end up having to hit the gas going down hill to get the transmission to up shift then the instant you hit brake, it down shifts again. I find it very irritating but some members love it. The feature is nice going up hills, it does away from the constant back and forth shifting, but I dislike going down hills.
Welcome to the club and good luck with the new V!

The duelers are not bad when new.But your pleasure will wear off as quickly as the Duelers wear down.:(

Just changed from factory Conti 4x4 to Bridgstone Duelers H/L Alenza's. These are not the Bridgstone's you are talking about are they? I've found the Conti's to wear quickly and had a harsh ride. Hoping for much better from the Alenza's!

Thanks for the info Black Pearl, mine downshifts as soon as I let up off of the gas. I can see if I touched the brake the grade logic would kick in but its immediate. Instead of coasting to a red light I now have to accelerate, this in my mind defeats the theory of gas economy.
P.S. nice information on how to do the oil changes on CRV's and excellent pictures, another great service of this forum.

Solly, I am really enjoying a smother ride with less road noise. Obviously I was at the end of the life of the Continentals (35,000 miles), but have never been impressed by the ride I got from them from the beginning. The tire dealer also had to adjust the rear wheel alignment and centered the stearing wheel after installing the Alenzas.

I have the same tires on my V...
They are outstanding, great traction on and off road, rain, and are outstanding in the snow. I did notice a small dip in MPG went down 1 or 2....but then came back up.Consumers on tirerack.com rate them exceptionally high in all categories. Definitely worth the $141 if you drive in various elements.

I noted the same mpg dip. Not sure if it is the tires or cold temps and winter gas? Still very happy with the "stickier" tires!:)

alenzas are a great replacement for the stockers. it's hard to believe they are both made by the same company.
