I just got my New to me (used) 2007 CRV and there is no warning tone letting me know that parking break is on. Is this a feature or did the prior owner pull the wires out? I dont see any thing in the manual about tone removal.

Thanks for any advice?

I have an EX and I never heard any kind of parking brake warning tone. There is a light on the dash and there are tones for your headlights and key in the ignition if the door is opened, but I was never aware of a tone for the parking brake.

Is it a feature on the EX-L?

pg 78 from 2007 CRV manual...

(middle panel)
"NOTICE...Driving the vehicle with the parking brake applied can damage the rear brakes and axles. A beeper will sound if the vehicle is driven with the parking breake on."

Cool! And it works! I just went out and tried it. Have you actually tried driving with the brake on? The beeping didn't start until I got up to about 10 mph. Just putting it into gear with the brake on didn't make it come on.

I completely read the manual when I first got my V, but that was 19 months ago and I apparently forgot that feature. In replying for your thread I searched the 08 owner manual (the pdf file I have is one complete manual verses a collection of chapters for the 07, searches are easier in the 08) for "warning tones" "tones" "chimes". I thought try beeper and then thought nah they wouldn't call it a beeper!

Thanks for the info. Try slowy driving your car with the brake applied enough to turn on the light. I think you'll find it comes on about 10 mph.

BTW That is a nice feature. On my previous car, the brake light was in a hard to see place and was kind of dim in the daylight. Twice I drove with the damn thing on. I am getting too old and feeble minded to be entrusted to something as remembering to release the parking brake--or remembering features on the car!

Just kinda surprised that the tone doesnt go off when you move from "PARK".
