Wet Carpet

The drivers side carpet in my 98 crv is soaking wet (would be my side wouldn't it!).
I have pulled the carpet up and there is a black bung in the floor near the pedals. This is the only way I can see water getting in. I can silicone this back in, but it seems to only lead to a rectangular channel under the floor and not fresh air. It is only the floor bit of carpet that is wet and not the sloping bits, so I don't think water is running down inside the car.
Does anyone know any other source of a leak? It is all very wet, so it isn't just off my shoes or something.

Have you examined the firewall under the hood on the drivers side? Sometimes a firewall grommet will dislodge and allow water in. Happened to me but it wasn't water it was cold air entering the cabin that led me to it.

Thanks for the welcome.
I would have thought the carpet behind the pedals would be wet then, but it is just the floor. I shall go and check though.

I think you are quite right. There is some rubbery material backed with some sort of soundproofing behind the pedals and right where the floor curves up there is a bung. The soundproofing is soggy and I think that plug was leaking. All siliconed in now.
Have to wait and see if that fixes it.

You are most certainly welcome.:D That is exacly where I was getting the cold air from in mine.:rolleyes: My feet were freezing in the morning on the way to work till I found it.:cool:
