I have an '07 EX, and on starting the horn will beep a few quick beeps when the key is turned on. When it is very cold it sometimes will not happen, but once it is warmer it happens. Is one of the unmarked relays under the hood for the horn?

Cool problem! Haven't seen that one before. Using the valet key (the plain key with out the buttons), leave the transmitter keys at home, take a short drive so that you are out of range of the transmitter keys, and stop the engine and try starting the car. If it does not beep then, I would suspect a problem with the transmitter keys. If it does beep then you may be on the right track searching for a relay. Some how I think something may be amiss with the security system or the transmitter keys.

Is your warranty still good? Take it to the dealer and have them straighten it out.

Welcome to the club and good luck with your problem. Be sure to post back what was wrong and how it was corrected. That is how we learn!

I've tried disconnecting the alarm, turning on the valet, etc, all the normal things that would affect it. I haven't tried leaving the transmitter key away from it though, good idea just to rule it in or out. It is out of warranty though, which is why I am trying to avoid taking it to the dealer if I don't have to. I am puzzled and my girlfriend says her car is possessed. hahaha. It is really only an annoyance at this point, but I do want to fix it.

u mentioned disconnecting alarm. is your alarm oem or aftermarket?
if aftermarket, maybe something is wrong with the wiring.

i remember a nephew of mine with an old tercel before with aftermarket alarm... he would be driving down the road and suddenly his alarm would be going off! :D:D

everyone would be looking at his car and like wtf.
it turns out one of the connectors for the wiring was too big so the wire was sliding in and out so the alarm would sometimes go on/off by itself when driving. :D

If it is aftermarket it is going to be hard to diagnose. If it was installed by someone other than your dealer, your dealer will most likely not touch it.

Turns out it was the alarm, it was a dealer installed Karr alarm. We took it to the dealer and they swapped out the alarm control unit free of charge even though the car was well past warranty. They could have taken it in to service and charged the diagnostic fee, labor, etc. on it, but they didn't. The service writer didn't even fill out any paper work for it. Honda of Escondido has taken very good care of my girlfriend and her car.
