Thanks BP. I did not see your post yesterday, nor this morning, when I logged on.

Just hope that the "cure" isn't worse than the "disease"

Don't know how keen I'd be to have some flat-rate schmuck take my engine apart to fix a 'louder than normal' but 'non-damaging' noise.

There is something oddly curious about this TSB. If it is just a harmless whine, why go to the effort of replacing the oil pump? Why not just give the standard, "its normal, they all do it." The TSB has 3.4 hours of flat rate time, so it is not a minor repair. There have been a number of hard to start issues when cold, and I wonder if they may or may not be related. A somewhat tight tolerance, it whines--a real tight tolerance, it doesn't want to start.

The cure, as you say, seems somewhat radical for the complaint. I wonder if Honda doesn't suspect that there is more to this than meets the eye in the TSB?

My 07 makes a pretty good whine for several minutes after starting when it is below about 25 degrees. I certainly am not going to run off to the dealer about it (the TSB is limited to 08s). There is a somewhat fishy stench to this TSB.

Does the oil need to be changed when doing this TSB ?

They need to drain the oil and remove the oil pan. I doubt they would go through the effort to save the oil.
