Hi Everyone,
I just purchased my very first Honda ('05 CRV EX-L) with only 28K (17,000miles). My wife and I fell in love with it after trying out a number of SUV's, however even having test driven it 3X for over 3 hours, I have come to discover a noise coming from either the steering column or from the gear shifter (automatic). Everytime I come to a stop there is a clicking noise (just one audible click) coming from the before mentioned area. It sounds like something is going in or out of position. I'm sure this noise would not bother most people, but I notice it and it has me worried. Thanks for any advice in this matter.

(i can feel the click coming from the gear shifter handle when i'm holding it...now there is also a smaller sounding click when i accelerate from the stop position)

The shift interlock solenoid is what you are hearing, and is completely normal.

Thanks for the heads up; even though this is a normal occurence, is it possible to get rid of the shift interlock clicking noise? Would it be a quick inexpensive service repair?

Have you found anything else out on this issue? I have the same noise, and it drives me crazy.

I am hearing the same noise in my 06. In stop and go traffic you can feel the click if you put your hand on the gear shifter. It is really annoying probably because I know its there and I keep listening out for it. Any fix for it??? or is it something we have to live with?? Does it happen in ALL CR-Vs or only after a certain mileage??
