Welcome to the CRV-OC and thank you for sponsoring our site.

Two ideas come to mind for possible products.

We have had a lot of LX and EX owners request information about installing an EX-L style center console to replace the lame tray.

The other product that we get a lot of requests about is the rear shelf from the EX and EX-L for LX owners.

I don't know if either of these products would be up your alley, but we certainly seem to get some interest from the members on them.

Thanks again for sponsoring our club.

Hey Black Pearl, Thanks for checking in. I'll look into that console and rear shelf for the LX. Do you know if the LX has any factory rear corner sections to rest the shelf, or would we need to fabricate the brackets too. We've designed an optional carpeted top shelf section for the CR-V EX. It protects that area and it stores in the back behind the rear seats.
I owned a Custom Van Conversion Co. and built high end, luxury vans for Chrysler, and GM for 25yrs. I still have many contacts in the industry, so I'll look into it. You know the story, if there is enough interest and volume in it, then we can build it. I'll keep you posted on my findings.

Radar, or any other owner of a gen 3 LX, does your car have the guides for the rear shelf built in to the rear side panels?

My guess is yes they do. It seems that one or two members bought the shelf as a replacement part. And someone on Ebay was selling plywood shelves that several members bought. I am fairly sure that all you have to do is make the shelf like the EX or EX-L and it will fit in the LX without additional brackets or supports. But I don't know that for a fact!

Black Pearl,

If I may answer...the '07 LX does not have the shelf guides built in. I know this because I have an '07 LX and purchased an OEM shelf. After I received the shelf, and realized that it wouldn't fit flush on the side panels (with hooks), I ordered the shelf guides (4 total) and installed them.

If you look at the Honda Parts Diagram labeled SIDE LINING, you will need parts 17, 18, 30, and 31 (select appropriate color for your vehicle also). After receiving the parts, I detached the left and right side panels, removed the "hook inserts" and replaced them with the EX type "latch inserts" which are held in place by screws inside the panel. It wasn't a big deal, just be careful.

It helped to read the info on this site regarding trailer hitch wire harness installation, especially the part about removing the bolt beneath the plastic cover (if you don't heed this valuable information, you can damage your side lining by attempting to remove it with the bolt installed).

I'm glad I bought the shelf, and the guides for the latches also. The shelf is very useful, as it allows for 2 levels for stacking groceries (&/or stuff) and also allows for items to be placed out of sight beneath it.

The OEM price for the shelf is rather expensive. I ebay'd mine for a fraction of the cost, but if I remember correctly, list price is in the ballpark of $350 for the shelf. Hope you find this info helpful.
