I've had my 00 CRV for over a year now, which I got from my mom. I've taken it off road countless times, handling the same stuff as a 4 inch superlifted with 35" tires 2500 dodge. So I know that my bad boy can hold its own against what some people may believe.

But I was finally hit with some bad luck.... I've known my tranny has been acting weird lately, slipping gears every ones in a while. While today I went to this offroad place my buddies go with their dodges, which I requested not to go because I have heard of this place before. We pull up to a mud water hole pass thing and my buddy goes through and then gets out and yells that he did it in two-wheel drive. I went on through, and as I expected it made it through. BUT I felt a thud square in the middle of the floor infront of that annoying folding tray table. I blew it off, figuring I just bottomed out. We kept on going, I got out of my car a few times because I was hearing a funny noise, but nothing looked or felt wrong. We got out onto the road, and I realized that my car wouldn't go past first gear! And my horn didn't work! I had to drive home 15+ miles going 5mph to tell my dad I blew the tranny. I just dropped it off, and they are going to look at it tomrrow. Before I dropped it off I pressed the horn and it had some life in it, I'm hopping that only water got into the case and that's whats causing the problem! Which is weird because I have driven through a 50yard 2foot deep puddle before and had no problem. I guess karma caught up to me...

But this cars can do some amazing stuff off-road, my car was staying with the 1500ram today and my tires are BALD! THis car is a true champ, but it has failed me today!

Are you sure you didn't hit something? Water shouldn't have done that to the transmission...

What is the vehicles maintenance history?

Yes I dont think water had to do anything really. Horn didn't work? Maybe it got wet? It cant be a blown fuse on the horn because you can't use the brakes if the horn fuse blew (from experience of changing horns, i blew the fuse which was the same fuse for the brakes so i couldnt shift the car from Park to anything)...

Any trouble codes?

Flashing "D" on the dash?

Either way, with that much water you should drain and refill the tranny and rear diff. That should be done any time you attempt a large puddle again.

Sounds like you have two seperate problems.

I hope you didn't take it to the honda dealer to have the tranny replaced. Your local shop may be able to replace it from a junkyard donor for half what the Honda service dept. will charge.

How many miles?
