Hi, I'm new to this website and I have found lots of great information so far. My questions is specifically for my 99 CRV. We want to camp with a tent trailer and most models of tent trailers are more than the max weight limit of 1000lbs (recommended by the owner's manual). My question is, has anyone out there towed a tent trailer with a 99 Honda CRV? Can we pull 1200lbs? From what I have read, I should get a Class III curt Hitch and perhaps need to look into a tranny cooler. Have I missed anything?
Thanks

You will have no problem if its a small tent trailer at 1200 lbs just take it easy and downshift to 3 when going up big hills.
Been there done that but not a tent trailer., I have a small covered utility trailer loaded with heavy scuba tanks and gear, total load including trailer is near 1500 Lbs and my 2009 pulls it nicely.
Its been to Key West Florida and back to Canada and will be going to North Carolina in July.
theres some good threads on this here. http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2216 dont bother reading the first 13 posts in this thread as its a stupid argument, but the rest of it is informative.

You should be fine.
Just take it easy and if your trailer does not have brakes (which I would recommend) then be sure to leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
