Sorry if its the wrong spot to post this. Anyways, a friend told me the RT4wd only works up to 40mph. After that its strickly 2wd. Seeing as its mechanical, and based off wheel slippage, I dont really believe him, but I figured I'd ask.
Thanks

You are right to not believe him. Get on ice and floor it. The rears won't stop spinning just because they turn more than 40mph.

haha yeah, it will work past fourty, i wouldent advise trying it, becuase while mudding with a buddy when my 4wd kicks in somtimes it will grip and throw my rear end around and send me sideways, but i also need some all terrains. and im sure at high speeds you could end up killing yourself.

Scott,
Does your friend own a Ford Explorer? I ask because my 2003 Explorer worked that way, would start in AWD till about 40 mph then run in 2WD unless one of the rear tires started to slip then it would kick into 4WD. It could also be lock into 4LO or 4HI if need be.
The 4WD system in the CRV is much more sophisticated than the system employed by Ford. It constantly shifts power where it's needed based on traction and load. It's also much more effecient, check the difference between a 2WD and 4WD Explorer and the difference between a 2WD and 4WD CRV!
I learned that if any door is not fully closed it will not chirp on the second click and the doors will NOT be locked. However, if the rear hatch is not fully closed, the doors and hatchback WILL lock although the hatch will be in a position that will show "open" on the dash.
It is possible although not easy to lower the hatchback without engaging at all and in that condition, there is no chirp and nothing will lock. It is too much of a risk that a door is slightly ajar and one click will leave leave it unlocked so I always click twice for the confirmation chirp.
