Will a 2005 Bumper install on a 2004

Wow what a great forum, I've been lurking around a bit and have already found many answers to my 2004 issues, such as the rear transfer case oil change. Unfortunately I had a slight accident a few weeks ago and buggered up my from bumper. also thanks I'm no wiling to replace the front bumper myself with what I have already learned on this forum.

However since I bought my 04 CRV, I have secretly wanted the 05 bumper with the larger openings for fog lights. So after looking and searching the forum I found many PDF installation instructions for both the 04 and 05 and the attachment (bolt pattern) looks very similar, the 04 seems to use a few more self tapinging screws in locations that the 05 uses those plastic fasteners. Also the 05 looks like it uses an extra self taping screw in the wheel well that the 04 doesn't.

Has anyone actually already done this swap? All I want to do is swap the actual bumper cover for an 05, if I have to buy a bunch of additional parts then this is most likely a no go. Since I live in RI I think I can get the online deal at Majestic, hopefully minus the shipping charge.

I was looking into the swap and the way the bumper mounts is similar, though the shape on the exterior is a little different, it will fit. I decided against it after i repainted my car and decided to leave the bumper black.

the headlights are different and some of the mounting pieces/points are different. therefore the bumper covers are slightly different. i think the grilles may be slightly different, also. you'd need to check an online parts catalog to see if they have the same part number. i'm not saying that they can't be made to fit, just that they're different.

The headlights for an 05 will plug right in to an 04, I've seen that. So it may not be super different. I just know it woudl've fit, I test fitted it on at a pick'n'pull but didn't buy. I always wondered what a blue car woud look like with all white bumpers and trim though.
