Hi,

I have to get the clutch master cylinder replaced on my 02 CRV and the warranty wouldn't cover it. They say it is a wear and tear item. Shouldn't it be classified as a lubricated part that should be covered under warranty or am I dreaming? :o

Thanks!

I wouldn't consider a master cylinder wear-n-tear but for an '02, what warranty are you using? It isn't a powertrain item.

How many miles are your V?

It is a wear and tear item, but have you ever flushed the fluid? Dirty fluids cause wear on any item. You HAVE TO keep fluids changed to make the parts last a long time.

Part 7 in this illustration is the 2002 clutch master cylinder assembly which slhondaparts.com sells for about $80.

Thanks for the replies. I recently bought the CRV and its got about 55K miles on it. I have had it for 3 months now, and don't know if the previous owner did any fluid flush on it. Thanks for the sketch as well. Also, the AC compressor is broken and they are replacing that under warranty. I have an extended warranty that I bought when I purchased the vehicle.

Flush the fluid and then see if you need a new one.
