Over the years, I've bought lots of stuff on line. Never had a problem. In the last month or so, I've bought a couple of items from HANDA and I've had to cancel a credit card account due to unauthorized usage. This may be a coincidence - or not. Anyone else had something similar happen to them?

I've bought quite a bit from them and no issues at all. Sorry to hear you had problems. It's hard to say if it was them or just a computer hacker that was able to gain access to your card.

I have ordered a few different times from them also with no worries. In fact, the service is pretty good. Was that all you used the card for? You may have already done so, but I'd check the statement for any other questionable places. Hope your credit card company stepped up and covered it for you.

H-and-A does a good job with security from what I've seen.

There does seem to be an increase in the number of credit cards being copied when you go out to restaurants now. Servers will take your card out of sight, swipe it on a card reader to copy your info and then use the card normally to bill you for the meal. This just happened to a friend of mine recently.

I really doubt this is due to your online purchase.

was it a real credit card or a "gift card" credit card. from what I've heard the gift cards are fairly easy to mess with an get people's info. That's why noone in my family uses them.

I don't understand that though...most gift cards have zero connection to the holder. Right?

They do but they still have money in them. Supposedly the security isn't as great as a regular Visa or Mastercard credit card. and there is no connection to the card holder so it won't mess up any of your credit scores but when you go to use it it could be empty.

I didn't see that backroad said that it was a credit account. sorry

A little while back someone got my dads credit card number. The Credit Cad agency froze my dad's card. when my dad asked them why the fraud agency said that there was several $1.00 internet purchases; and that this is how many internet credit card stealer guys test to see if a card works before they go in for the big heist.

I've had people manage to fill up at the pump after me if I forget to raise the handle on the gas pump at the gas station - it assumes you're still there - had that happen a few times. One time had $150 (must've been a Suburban) charged to my card where I filled it up for a $20 tank of gas... lucky enough to not have it completely stolen yet.
