I purchased my 07 CRV in December. I absolutely love everything about it except the windshield wipers. We have only had inclement weather twice here in NE since I bought it and both times the wipers were very ineffective. This last snow storm, the nut that holds the DRIVERS side wiper on loosened which made the wiper stop working completely. Needless to say it was not a good 20 mile ride home from work. According to the dealer, the nut loosening is uncommon but not unheard of. I find the ice/snow builds up underneath the "fixed" portion of the blade where the nut is and that in turn makes the blade not clean the windows effectively. To me this is a safety issue that should be addressed. I feel like I have to drive with a wrench in my car to be prepared to pull over to the side of the road to fix it in the middle of the next snowstorm....Anyone else having the same problem?

I think you experienced a fluke. I have had that happen on other cars over the years.
That being said, winter wiper blades are exactly that. Get a set that you can put on for winter and switch back to the regular ones for the rest of the year.
No, it won't help any ice/snow buildup under the pivot point, but pretty much all cars are like that. Did you ever drive a car with those semi-hidden wipers? The ones that come to rest under the backside of the hood? Those are terrible for snow/ice buildup.

I agree the 07 CRV windshield/wiper base is not the easiest to clear of ice and snow. My 02V was also difficult to clean.
The best solution would be for Honda to copy Subaru's design to have a heating element under the wiper base for quick defrosting.
Possibly some ice at the pivot point of your driver's wiper arm could have bound the arm and caused the nut to loosen.
After clearing the snow I use windshield de-icer spray to melt the ice buildup around the wiper arm pivot point, and also along the wiper arms to melt ice in the flex joints that need to move to press the rubber evenly against the curve of the glass.

Thanks for the idea on the windshield de-icer. I wouldn't have thought of that - all I could think of was having to use a screw driver to loosen the clumps of ice under the pivot point. I'm buying a can TODAY. As far as the winter blades, they aren't available for the 07 yet. I couldn't find them anywhere, dealer or auto supply. I'm not sure how the older models are but my driver blade is almost 2x longer than my passenger blade.
This is exactly why I posted on this website - thank you both for your insight and ideas....I definitely DO NOT want it to happen again - it made for a frightening ride home.

2006 CRV-Really hoping someone could shed some light on this new problem. I suspected the washer reservior was not holding washer fluid. So, Saturday I filled w/ just water and it's now Wednesday and it's empty! My son noticed that there was a slow drip from the passenger's side of the car, around the where the rear door is located underneath the V. So, I'm thinking that the tube that takes water from the front reservoir to the rear window runs along this path. I don't know really, just making assumptions.
I've only had this V 4 months and am disappointed. I took a look under the car and cannot see the tube. The reservoir looks fine, but I can't follow the path to the back because I loose sight of it.
Any recommendations? Car under full warranty. Is this sort of thing covered?
Thanks for your help.

It would be covered under warranty. Don't be disappointed. It's a car with thousands of parts. Be glad it is something so minor.

I called the dealer today and they said this sort of thing should be covered under the warranty. Thank goodness. Taking it in tomorrow so they take a look. Thanks 2RedV's

My Acura's rear wiper did the same thing (nut came loose) one day. I have had many cars where the snow/ice builds where you are referring to. I don't think it a "honda/CRV" thing, but typical of certain designs across the board.
