Hello fellow CRV owners-
My wife and I are interested in buying a CRV (specifically a 2004 EX). I've never owned a CRV before and I just wanted to know what other owners have thought. I know the Odyssey has had some transmission problems at around 70k- is it the same with CRV? My wife and I are expecting our first child late this summer and I want a practicle car for her to drive around. Please respond- I would love to hear from any of you. We really want to know how these cars hold up.
Thank you
Rich

I would be surprised if there were transmission problems on the CR-V. The ones with tranny issues, were, I believe, V6 models. However, the main thing with any Honda with an automatic transmission is to keep the tranny fluid clean and only use Honda's own tranny fluids. Fortunately, this is the simplest fluid change one could do on a CR-V. It is easier than the oil change. Our 04 has 50k miles it and I did a tranny drain and fill at 30k miles and will do it again at 60k miles.
Look on Autotrader.com and do a search for 2002 on up CR-V's with over 100,000 miles and then notice how well the resale is. I think you will be surprised. Around me, I have been seeing 04's ranging from $15,000-$19,000!
Considering that we paid right at $21,000 for ours, new, I am quite pleased.
Because of the high resale, you may want to look at an 05 or 06 instead. They will be only slightly more to buy, but you would be getting a newer vehicle with less miles. Again, around my area, people are trading in 05 and 06's like crazy and getting new 07's!
