I've been asked many times how to smoke tails. Mine were done with professional equipment and materials. I'll give a step by step method to show you how to get the same results in your garage or driveway.
1) Remove the tail lights from your vehicle.
2) Clean them to remove dirt, wax, and oils. Rubbing alcohol works fine.
3) Scuff the tail lights with a scotch-brite pad until they look dull.
4) Clean the tail lights one more time, and make sure they are completely dry.
5) Spray two light coats of clear adhesion promoter (can be found at most auto parts stores)
6) Within 5-10 minutes of laying down the last coat of adhesion promoter, spray 3 light, but even coats of tail light tint spray. There are many different kinds and colors available in a rattle can.
7) Once the tint coat is dry, lay down 2-3 layers of clear, and let dry overnight.
8) Wet sand with 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper
9) Polish to a deep shine (I like System One X3 cutting polish)

NOTE: at night the visibility of the rear lights will drop depending on how thick the tint is - too far and you will need to get higher intensity bulbs. In some states this it is illegal to have tinted tail and or headlights. Check all sources before attempting this modification. user: "Markymark" is not responsible for tail light breakage, ruination, or visibility loss, and or tickets obtained from doing this, nor is anyone else responsible. Check the laws in your state.
