I don't see the focus of the picture? The fuel line? I can't see.

I think he's showing a straight through or test pipe in place of the cat converter. This would be not cool for the environment (and not street legal where I am) since it is now spewing out emissions into the air we breathe :) Is this right?

exactly right, no cat

Oh, that's it, I thought I was looking at the rear axle, my bad. Hmmm... well, if I had that here, they'd impound my car...

Yeah, if you have any illegal modifications, and someone can hear it, they'll check underneath the car to make sure the cat is still there first, and if it's not, the car is considered to be ruining the environment, and it will be impounded, and you have to bring a CAT to the impound yard to show that you are putting it back before you can PAY to get it out of impound, which is usually $120 a day.

Who really cares. Without a CAT you can get a little bit better fuel millage and better power (just slightly). When my dad was 28 or so the CAT on his Vega was fried so he had a friend straight pipe it

cats only cause problems. IMHO but they do save the environment.

My last car was a Saab 9-5, and on the Saabscene forum I used to frequent I'm pretty sure I remember one or two people saying they had removed their cats and they still passed the UK MOT test with no problems.

they are very strict in California

California smog testers will lick the Catalytic Converter to make sure it tastes like a real CAT, that's an idea of how strict it is.

haha classic. i would not doubt that, you are probably failing testes just due to all the smog i put out, and all the refrigerant i let out on earth day....a/c compressor died

I'm glad my statement was signature worthy, just as my one on SHO, while not appropriate here, was worthy.

UK cars only have to pass euro 4 standards. US as a whole uses a similar emmision standards like euro 7 and California is much stricter than that.

I hate the CA emssions tests. It faild last summer than I paid $255ish for o2 sensors and put them on then past the test. But my old o2 sensors were rusted out

I tried to post just lucky but it said the message was too short I have never had that happen before.

I failed a smog test because the heat sensor on my Jimmy wasn't working, and needed to be replaced $500 for the sensor and install from GM.... A SENSOR TO SAY THAT THE EXHAUST IS HOT?!?!?! I didn't know such space-age technology even existed...

And if the CEL comes on it is an automatic disqual. Thats what happened to me. and the error code said soething about the o2 sensore.

I failed the first time because I didn't have a gas cap:D:D had to go buy one, then it got the sensor issue. I could never keep track of the gas cap, I always put it on the bumper and then dove off:D I bought like 5 different caps for it.

I had a locking one because people were sphyphioning gas and my sister broke it in half. The handle was in her hand and the locking peice was still on the tank. After a few minutes of working it I took it off then put the factory one on.
