Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are often bandied about here on the forum but many people have never heard of them. Why are they so hard to find?

Here is the low down on TSBs from Edmunds.com.

We keep the TSBs on the CR-Vs that we know about here, but what about TSBs for other cars? Edmunds keeps an abbreviated list (it is not the full TSB but a short description) here:

Well then use a US zipcode. 20500 is for Washington DC, can't get no more USA than that. The Zipcode is required for all the maintenance cost crap. The TSBs are a link within the Maintenance window. I don't think the wrong location will affect the TSB list.

Good links indeed, BP!

What I can't understand is when I try to mention a "TSB" to a Honda service advisor or when I actually spoke with someone from American Honda, they acted like I was speaking gibberish to them!

And then they will sorta retract and say they're only "advisories" or something like that like these things are figments of my imagination.

One day, I'm gonna print out a copy of a TSB and take it to the dealership and see how they react. Maybe it'll be like Holy Water to the devil or something. :-)

Actually they are just advisories.

A TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) is a document that describes a problem and a fix. It is meant to save troubleshooting time for the technicians.

It would be nice if the Service Writers knew about all the fixes, but you can't expect that 100% of the time.

Some people think a TSB entitles them to a free service but that's not always the case.

And people being people, I sure the techs usually try to figure it out for themselves 90% of the time. Only when they get totally lost do they look in the database for "directions".

(Hey, I'm a guy, I understand!!!!) :p
