I wan't to put a PS2 controller in my car for sterring. left and right with the analogue stick, X for gas, O for the e-brake, triangle for reverse, square foe the brake, L1 to shift up and L2 to downshift. then you could unplug the controller and take it with you to prevent theft. Well that was the idea when I was 12:D

That was one of my ideas too, then they made it a reality in Men in Black 2, then I realized the only way to complete that driving experience would be to have the window replaced with a screen that gave you a far away over-head view of your car to drive.:D

Has there ever been a concept car that the doors opened normally? I think this one is priced a little out of my reach.

I think the completely disappearing doors on the lincoln are the best for a concept car:

No they never open normally... I don't know why, probably for flashiness.
Also, if i had designed the concept I'd have put all the controls in front of the driver, not in the middle, I can't have people in the passenger seat pushing the reverse or neutral button, or firing the rockets on the back of the joystick, that's unacceptable.

It's about time they did one of these. I would make mine look like a fighter jet cockpit. Just so I could have all the gauges, doohickeys, and doodads.
And a red button that says passenger ejection. That would totally scare who ever sits shotgun.:D

Not totally unlike the Gen 3 which has the shift lever in the middle of the dashboard...just about where frummpy old Black Pearl would like to put his achey old right knee. Does the passenger need to access the shift lever?
Back in 1931 they had a concept car that had the shift lever on the steering column. People marveled at what a unique and luxurious concept--to have the shift lever the hell out of the way. Could we have the shift lever up on the steering column and leave that space open to achey knees? No... we have to make it look cool (something on the order of having a tach on an automatic). Cool wears out in an hour, comfort never does.

I agree BP, I still think the best were the cars that had a shifter on the column, AND the floor. That was ancient times though. I actually want to wire up some white strobes in the grille, and turn the parking brake release button into a switch to play a machine gun audio file over a PA and flash the strobes in the front. James bond status.
I also think the other thing that shouldn't be on cars is speedometers that can be viewed by the passenger seat. Anyone with a wife is screwed with this technology. I remember some older cars having the dash sort of wrap around the driver to give them their own space to operate the car.

i dont know about you, but when i run down a pedestrian, i like to feel the feedback through the steering wheel, i think having the joy stick would diminish the fun.

Not if the joystick had a button on the back, with a safety cover that you could flip up and fire rockets with. You'd quickly change your mind.

Well, not really, I personally think all the James Bond ideas were stolen from me. Before I was born of course, since they date back a while.

Well... he could have. I still want to do the idea with the strobes on front and just have a machinegun audio play over a PA while the strobes go off.

You guys should have gotten a Gen 1:D
I went to a spy museum when I went to DC a coupple of years ago and they had a replica of the first james bond Austin Martin with the slot where the maching gun came out and it made the sound with lights, there were smikes that came out of the hub caps, and a bullet proof screen that came up behind the rear glass.

I don't know waht movie it's from, but I know it's real, someone made it, and it does look like it came from a movie, looks like it would be Robocop or some futuristic movie from the 80's.
