I`ve done a search but can`t find a definite answer, can a Gen 2 remote (from a 2003 CR-V) be re-programmed to operate a 2001 Gen 1?
ps. both UK spec.

I don't believe so. At least here in the US, you have to match up the FCC ID tag on the back with your new one and they don't intermix backwards or forwards.
