harold 05-18-2009, 09:43 AM Nice job! Great looking V!!!:D Hal
Serj22 05-18-2009, 12:15 PM IT looks great.
What happened to the fender before you cleaned it? Did someone hit it?
Carbo 05-18-2009, 01:10 PM It's been a long time since I purchased a new vehicle. June, 1997, in fact, when I bought my then new Honda Civic EX, which I still have today and am considering replacing.
So my question is, what on earth happened to that new black CR-V? Is it possible the deal prep did that much damage to the paint??

Oh it's definitely possible.
This is how the car looked when I saw it sitting in the lot. I actually requested that the dealer NOT wash or prep the car when I picked it up because I didn't want the problem to get worse.
The pictures make it look worse than it really is. Under most lighting conditions the paint looks fine. This was just some light marring/swirling most likely caused by sloppy washing techniques. I would say that >80% of the cars on the road look like this or worse.
The scratches were in the clear coat, not the paint so they came out pretty easily with a mild polish and a DA polisher.
Lightloch 05-19-2009, 12:14 PM Nice V, Now you need some accessories! :) Mine is in bad shape clearcoat-wise from the dealer and I've yet to get it detailed to correct the issue.
Agreed, most of the cars I've seen on Honda lots are in not-so-great shape paintwise, and one time I went to a dealer to see there wash crew, which was a bunch of teenagers with dirty rags and a hose.
dlarsoncrv 05-19-2009, 09:41 PM nice, very clean. Thanks for sharing
bennj2 05-22-2009, 03:45 PM Very nice work. Black is probably the toughest to detail in my opinion, but looks the best if done right. You get your stuff from autogeek?
MarkyMark 05-24-2009, 07:54 PM Looks great! What DA are you using?
byalegend 09-02-2009, 12:57 AM Pretty! Nice work!
I just bought a PC 7424 that I'm anxious to use on my wife's 1997 CR-V. She has a TON of scratches and swirls on the hood, so I'm going to hit it with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound first on Adam's pads, then I may step up to M105 if that doesn't do the trick. I did a test area by hand, and the Ultimate Compound did a decent job.
PedroDaGr8 09-02-2009, 08:59 AM Hahaha, OP this post has Autopia or a similar site written all over it. The method of lighting etc. ALL look like it. :p
If you have a clear coat, the M105/M205 combo really can't be beat. That being said, some of our CR-V's (namely the red and Taffeta White) are single stage paints (no clear coat) and there are other products that will work better.
I'm curious as well what machine the OP used. RO or Rotary?

That's what I thought when I first read it - sounds like an Autopia post :) Coincidentally, I just got my PC 7424 from autopia-carcare.com. BTW - the old PC 7424 is on sale for $94.99 + 20% discount for Autopia members.
