What's up with DVD players and video screens in vehicles these days? Can people not drive anywhere without watching movies? Have to keep the kids entertained? Why? What's wrong with looking out the windows and watching the real world? Don't want to look out the window? Too boring? How about reading a book?

And that is just for the back seat. How about video screens on the dash? And then bypassing the safety interlock so they will work while driving. Beats me.

I'm guilty. I love listing to metallica while the video is playing. I do not make a point of directly watching it while driving, unless I am in a 6 mile backup traffic jam. One morning was watching local news traffic report. they had no clue what a mess I was sitting in!
As far as driving & watching.. not a good idea, maybe ya can do that, talk an the cell phone and "ladies" put on makeup and read a book all at the same time:rolleyes:
I do remember one funny (to me anyway) story about a guy on the east coast got arrested for watching a porn movie while he was driving! talk about distractions!

We passed a guy in a Civic on the highway reading a book yesterday. Had it on the steering wheel. When I honked my horn he gave me the finger, without even looking up. Knew exactly why I did it.

We're worrying about videos and cell phones. Don't need any high tech stuff to be an idiot. :(

Movies/Videos while driving -- hmmm, guess they're afraid people might actually develop individual, uninfluenced, potentially creative thoughts of their own! Heaven forbid!

Some states have outlawed cell phones while driving (a wise move), but hey -- now we can watch a movie instead!! What a concept! After all, being in control of a large and powerful piece of equipment is really such a bore, isn't it? Let's watch a really great video to take our mind off the road and that annoying drunk guy driving in front of us!

Puleeeze! This species is amusing itself to death! No thoughts to think, no tears to cry - all sucked dry! And the saddest part is, we're all too blind to see what we've become!

I'm a big car audio and HT guy but I've never had any desire to go the DVD route in my rides.

I know in most states, and mine specifically, it is illegal to have a video screen playing in view of the driver. I just don't understand it though, one ton of steel moving at 70+ miles per hour, why? I guess there has to be stupid people so the smart ones will have something to measure against :). Thanks.

I have seen a few Odyssey at night with the DVD screen lighting up. I imagined the kids must be watching the movie at night while the parents are seated in front seats. I don't have too much problem with this as long as the driver and shotgun passenger pay attention to the road. However, DVD screen in the dash is no go.

I love having video for the kids. We drive to New Hampshire several times a year and having a movie to break up the 10 hour trip each way is great. As soon as we get there the screens get packed back up until we head back home home. Don't use them in town at all. All things in moderation. They can only read and color for so long.
