Just curious... and since you're here...

I (and my whole family, for that matter) have been purchasing pretty well all our tires from Discount tire for more than 20 years. One thing that I have noticed for as long as I can remember is that there seems to be a reluctance among Discount Tire representatives to sell Michelin-brand tires.

EVERY time I go in, strong attempts are made to sell me a different brand when I specifically go in asking for Michelin. Several times, I've "special-ordered" and waited for Michelin tires. Upon returning on the appointed day, the Michelin tires still have not arrived and an alternate sale is again attempted. I have always been able to purchase the Michelins by the 3rd visit.

This has happened in no less than 4 different stores in 3 different cities and 2 different states, so I'm convinced it's not an individual management/personal bias issue.

Obviously this little Michelin dance hasn't kept me from being a customer, it's just a strange way of getting to the final result. Aside from a few of your less-paint-sensitive technicians using my hood as a writing desk every so often and a few scratched center-caps along the way, I have no complaints.

Any insight?

Hello Rod,

Thank you and your family for being such great customers. We really do appreciate your support.

Honestly, I think it's just a stock issue. The Michelin product does cost more so we do stock less of it than other brands. From my experience, when most people make up their mind about purchasing a set of tires, they just want to get it done. For that, we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't offer you something that we could install quicker. Michelin makes fantastic tires. Tires are definitely a, you get what you pay for product and Michelin doesn't let anyone down. If I can help streamline your order process in any way please let me know.

Thank you for your comments.
