We are about to buy the 2007 CR-V which we will be shipping to Europe when we move (Germany). We would like an OEM (or integrated into dash) navigation system. I understand from Alpine Electronics that the OEM Honda Navigation system is NTSC and will not operate in Europe (which uses PAL). Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a fix so the Navi will work in Europe? Thanks

You would need a Europe NAV DVD - maybe that is where the difference is and why they mention a NTSC vs PAL issue?

I think European Honda is using a Navigation system based on the Garmin nüvi 360 - for the USA models you wrote they are using Alpine.
I have contacted Alpine but they gave me the same response, which was nonsense - which leads me to believe they are not the supplier of the OEM USA built Navi system?
DVDs all have the same data format around world. Physcial DVD purchased are coded/set as Region codes "0" region free 1 - north America etc and only play in DVD players with mathcing region codes. There is little problem to Hack DVD player to play any region (region free 0 code DVD). SO with a region Free DVD player you can Play USA or Europe DVD on the same machine and same TV.
Does anyone know if the EURO HONDA NAV Disk will work in US made Honda?
If it does not, is there a solution out there? Thanks

I too wonder what NTSC and PAL has to do with navigation. PAL is a colour encoding system, just like NTSC.
But back to the Navi. Has anyone got European DVD working in a car from US?
I too bought a car its on the way..

I believe it should work.. Then again I have no experience with exporting a car w/navigation to a different country..

I thought that ALL navigation systems (Honda, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Benz, etc) all used Navteq as the main supplier for the Navigation units? Or at least for the ones in the USA??:confused:

Hi.. I'm actually a 2009 Acura MDX owner but am having the same issue.

Moved to Netherlands for work and my Acura dealership has been zero help and the Honda dealership here are not able to provide me with a Euro nav dvd due to compatibility issues.

It was not specified why exactly but I assume it's a region coding issue.

Hopefully someone can help us out (I can't even contact any of the customer support lines because you can't dial out to any toll-free #'s like 1-800/866/877/888, etc) outside of Netherlands.

I can't comprehend why the euro nav data can't be burnt onto a regio free disc, or firmware update crack or something... I don't mind even paying them for this!!

Hi there,
I couldn't stop laughing when I came into your comments, because that is exactly where I am as well. I imported last September a CR-V and the Navteq system doesn't work in Europe. I was wondering if you have any clues by now how to solve this problem, me too I don't mind to pay but just to have if fixed! :(
Many thanks
David
