Hello all,
I just picked up my wife's 2007 Glacier Blue EX-L (2WD, no navi) last night. I love it and it's not even my car, well, technically it is mine cause I bought it :D , but it's her daily driver. Fortunately I will get to drive it on ocassion. :) It's a nice step up from her cramped 98 Civic. We have two small dogs and a 19 mo. old little girl, so the extra room is very much needed and welcome.
I've been eyeballing the new CRV since the spy shots came out last year. While I'm not wild about the Jay Leno front end, it's growing on me. The rest of the car is a home run. The interior and exterior were well designed by Honda. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's damn close. And we love the leather, we decided to treat ourselves and go with it instead of the cloth.
We were looking at the RAV4, but we didn't like the styling nor the interior...it looks and feels more cheaply made. The V6 power (option) was nice, but not needed for my wifes driving style. Funny, but my wife peeled out of the Toyota dealership when test driving the RAV4 V6...haha. The K24 in the CRV is definitely adequate. It's not a screamer, but it has decent low end torque and cruises on the highway just fine. Plus, with gas prices flirting with $3 again here in NC I think a 4 cyl is the way to go. Hopefully once the engine breaks in we'll see some decent mpg.
And coming from someone who is a SCCA Solo II member (auto crossing) I think the CRV handles great and has supurb braking power. It's very sure footed and quite responsive to driver inputs. It's just a well rounded vehicle that is perfect for my wife...that and it's very safe for her and my baby. 5 star crash tests all the way around and side curtain airbags make me feel good about them driving in it.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'll be lurking around.
Brian
