Hello all--
New to the forum and hoping for some expertise from the CRV community! First the back story:
I have a 2000 CRV with 138,000 miles. The car was purchased Honda certified with 68,000 miles in 2005. Within the 12 month warranty (if fact, within the 1st month) I had bad struts and a radiator replaced. Despite regular maintenance, I also experienced the dreaded valve issues and had the cylinder head replaced at 105,000.
My most recent scheduled maintenance was performed at 126,000 miles with fluid replacements, valve adjustments, etc... At the time, I complained about very poor acceleration when starting on hills. I was assured that this issue was checked out and nothing to worry about...
Which leads to my current issue. Recently, I began to experience the same effect of labored acceleration even from normal stops. When pressing the gas, the rpms would increase, but the car would hesitate or need to find a sweet spot to initiate first gear. Once moving, all other shifting felt normal. However, when shifting into P or R, I would hear a very loud clunk from the rear.
Using honda fluids, I drained and filled the trans fluid (only 12,000 miles old) 3 times and drove for several days, about 200 miles. The take off issue seemed to improve, but hasn't been eliminated. In recent days it became worse and I went to the dealer. I was told Honda can fix my transmission through their exchange program for $3000.
Of course, I don't want to dump any more money into this lemon. Yet today, the check engine light comes on and the car drove smoother than it has in weeks.....help???!!!@@@@###$$%#!!???
