Hi everyone,

I've been car shopping all week and I think I've narrowed it down to Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue. One of the questions I have though, is concerning Toronto driving. I live north of the city, but frequently come down for work.

a) How has your gas mileage been?

b) How has your driving experience been in downtown Toronto? In particular, Bloor Street ... it's ALWAYS under construction for one reason or another, and I'm apprehensive as to whether or not the CR-V would be able to get through those tight turns

c) How has winter been treating you? :)

d) Do you feel the CR-V being moved by the wind when you're on the highway?

e) How do you find the maintenance costs? Are you still with the dealership, or a 3rd party mechanic?

f) Is there a place you would recommend for Honda service? Or a dealership? I was in Markham Honda the other day, and wow. I cannot believe the attitude I got.

Thanks in advance for your time

the milage is between 24 - 30 mpg US depending on how much highway. Winter driving was great but the factory tires do not last. The wind on the highway is a lot better than my old Element. For service I do most myself but oil changes I go to Costco.

b. you will be fine with the CRV. Yes, Bloor St is always a mess. They've gone further east towards Sherbourne now but still the traffic is unpredictable.

c. no snow yet. Guess thats a blessing!

d. sometimes

e. I go 3rd party.

f. The service at Markham Honda is actually better than the other dealerships in the GTA.

I test drove the Rogue before deciding on my 2010 EXL with Navi. The Rogue handled really well but I wasn't as comfortable in it and had poorer visibility. We have now had some snow and slush and so far my CRV rides well and I do have winter tires. Overall, it has great comfort, good visibility and it's a joy to drive. It may lack a bit of power though the horsepower has increased in the 2010 models to 180. In my opinion, whether it's city r highway, 180 is more than enough.
