Hi, I have a 1999 crv and it tries real hard to maintain highway speeds up a long mountain pass. Have any of you had both generations of the CRV to compare the the power of the 2nd generation motor??

My mom used to have a 1st gen and it had to be floored to go uphill. my 2nd gen doesn't care about hilss. it'll climb it all day.

Having both transmissions for a 1st gen, I know that the manual handles the hills like a champ.
The 2nd gen has a bigger engine and more power. So, by default, it will handle hills better.
So, that being said, I want to drop a 2nd gen engine in my V when/if it ever dies.

might sound crazy... but one day I WILL swap the 3rd gen turbo diesel into my gen one.

i may go LS1...or if i can find a RDX w/ Turbo motor just laying around :/
or just build it...boost it...something. but 1st gens are rather underpowered for a relatively heavy car
