I know towing is 1500lbs, and could be 3000 with trailer brakes. I read that in Europe, trailer brakes are standard on the cr-v. I believe "curt" makes a 2" receiver hitch that fit the cr-v but need the brakes to increase capacity.
I was wondering how hard it would be to wire the brakes up to the cr-v?
thanks!

There is quite a few steps. The rear bumper has to come off, as well as the rear trim panel, the cooler pan, floor support structure, cargo loops, and fianlly the left side interior panel after removing the speaker. If you go to http://www.handa-accessories.com you can get the wiring adaptor and download the instructions before hand to see if you really want to do it. Figure on atleast half a day if your handy with tools and a whole day if you are not quite so handy.

Huh? You don't have to remove the bumper to add trailer braking capabilities to a V. Trailer brakes generally get wired from up front. Even if you are talking about adding the etrailer.com wiring harness for normal trailer lights it is a plug-in affair. You remove the rear speaker grill. Takes but 10 minutes and is way cheaper than the Honda solution which does the same thing.

I can't imagine hauling 3000 lbs. with a CR-V. Would be like the tail wagging the dog.:p The most I plan to haul with mine is a 5'X7' Uhaul trailer. For the most part my hitch will be used for a Bike rack. Or maybe the occasional small utility trailer.
