just needing to tune it up, right now im trying to get the kick down cable adjusted right, sometime it will gear down for passing power, and sometime it wont, so i figure its the kick down cable. i also need to adjust the cam and acc pump, sombody on a local offroad forum suggested this to me. it likes to bogg down when im trying to make a fast take off, but plugging vacuum leaks and tuning the idle mixture helped somewhat im just trying to figure out what else i could do. it has stalled out on me a few times and i have had a few backfires but like i said before, tuning it has helped, it has not stalled as much, im going to say maybe once in the past week and that was from a standing start. I also just put in a 4 hole carb spacer that has seemed to help. any questions comments or concerns will be much appreciated.

I don't know mate. Before you try to adjust or fix anything, I'd tear down the whole carb and rebuild it. It'll take you maybe a day. Also, is it one of two carbs, or is it the only one?

Have you checked the fuel filter as well? It may lag the fuel delivery on a quick takeoff if it's F'd up.

its a single carb, 4 barrel holley 600. its almost brand new it has not been tuned or anything. the engine swap was a hack job done at a sub par local shop, i could have done much better. i will check the fuel filter tomorrow. im thinking it still has something to do with my secondarys not opening up right, im going to try with a different vacuum location.

Oh my... Chris, I told you to take money on top. Tsk tsk tsk. Alright, well can't be taken back now so lets fix this b****. First make sure the engine is mounted down in 4 locations, a lot of people skip that if it was a hack job, and that'll suck if you're offroading and the car gets forced forward, so here:

1. Check the mounts

2. Rebuild that carb, make sure there's nothing jammed in it either, sometimes you can dump fuel in em if they won't start, but sometimes people leave off the cover and filter and a bunch of crap gets caught in it.

3. Manual or Automatic? Was the manual swapped?

4. How's the differential look? A lag or broken tooth on the ring and pinion might give you a slip when accelerating.

5. When the engine was swapped, was the rear end swapped as well?

6. No misfires? Check the cap and rotor for cleanliness, and correct spark plug order.

7. The secondaries may not be opening all the way, or are jammed. Rebuilding it will help you discover any issues. Also make sure there's nothing jammed behind the butterflies, even a little dirt will f- it all up.
