View Full Version : A/T won't shift to D3 or D4

My 1998 CRV with automatic transmission suddenly downshifted into D2. It would not shift up into D3, D4, N or P. I could shift into D1. I dropped off the vehicle at the dealership after hours. A few minutes after turning the key off, I was able to shift into P and remove the key. The next morning the service tech took the car for a long ride but couldn't replicate the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas? There is a known issue with the tranny cable needing a periodic lube at the transmission end but it wouldn't make the car downshift on it's own.
