2008 CRV passenger side water leaks

I'm really dissapointed in my new 08 crv in that it has a very obvious water leak from the area under the dash on the passenger side. It only seems to happen when we get a tremendous storm, as I frequently wash the car and it does not seem to do this or be damp at all afterward. What I see occuring is that my CRV which is parked outside in the open in my very flat and level driveway seems to get loaded up with water somewhere inside the dash, then the next day when you attempt to drive off onto the street which has a pretty steep grade to it, you hear and more importantly see as about 1/2 cup of water just pours out of the area under the glove box onto the floor. Thank good I got good form fitting rubber floor mats when I bought the car but my carpet still does get somewhat wet. The glovebox itself does not have any dampness in it and after that initial dump of water I don't see any more leaking even if driving in the middle of a huge storm. I just got the call from the dealership I bought the car at who of course claim they checked everything including sunroof drains etc and can't duplicate the problem. My next plan is to get into the car after the next storm with my video camera so I can play it back for them. I'm just very unhappy as this type of BS is exactly what led me to purchase this car after numerous bad experiences with these type of bad quality control issues with several other domestic vehicles. I've searched on here and don't see very many people with the later style CRV complaining of this its usually older vehicles. Any suggestions welcome.

I wonder if the drain on the evaporator or aA/C blwoer compartment could be plugged. I thought that the outside air inlets for the A/C system will allow water in during a heavy rain. It's worth checking.

If you can crawl under the car and look around below where the dash would be, you might find a rubber tube. Take a coat hanger and run it up the tube carefully. if you get a face full of water...you found your problem. Mine plugged on my Nissan Versa from fine that falls on my car debris where I park at work.

Do you use your heater/demist after the storm as you drive off?.........just a thought............might be something to look around???? I hope you get your problem solved before the real rainy season starts...........best of luck.

Got the car back from the Dealership last night with their standard response that i was ready for "unable to find leak" they also claimed that the carpet did not seem damp and other wording to make it seem like I am making this all up. I wasn't happy and made sure the CS guy realized that but had no recourse other than to take the car back home. I told him that when it happens again (as opposed to if) that I will be leaving it there, gettin a rental car and calling the area Honda service manager to have them reimburse me. He wasn't thrilled to hear me say all that and somewhat backtracked, pointed out that they spent several hours hosing the car etc, and also that they "blew out" the AC drain, as you guys seem to mention, I don't really feel that this going to be the problem, as it would happen all the time whenever its super humid out and we use the car with the AC on full blast, which is pretty much been all summer long, as I've stated here this has only happened when the car sits in my driveway during a heavy rain..... Oh well...

Seeing is believing.

Watch the forecast. When a heavy rain is imminent, grab a video camera, blot the rug where it gets wet and document that the towel is dry. After it rains and assuming there is water on the rug, blot again and show the wet towel. Trot down to the dealership, pull up a few chairs and show 'em what you got.

I used this technique when a microwave would shoot out a huge blue arc when I used it. The repair shop "could not duplicate," so I made the video. A week later, the manufacturer shipped me a new unit.

Dealership finally diagnosed this leak as a bad OEM windshield gasket/seal. They had the car for 3 days, on the morning of the first day they called me at lunch to advise that the service rep I left the car with and spoke to about the problem for 30 minutes, "wasn't at work" and they were wondering why my car was there? After I about lost my mind I explained it again and they finally got something done. Hasn't rained that bad since, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
