I recently installed Donnelly Temp and Auto Dim kit on my CRV 2008 LX. It did not came with instructions on where to place the temp sensor. I placed the sensor behind the horn which is by the fuse box on the right engine side.

It did not turn out to be a good spot, the temp in 7-10 degrees F higher than actual temp so I am substracting that number every time:D

What would be a good location to place the temp sensor? Any pic would be great!

Kind of confused on where you said your placement is. The horns are out behind the front bumper. The fuse box is under the drivers side of the inpanel. There's a relay box in the engine room, but it's up by the firewall on the driver's side, no where near the horns. ( The drivers side is the left side and the pass. side is the right).

I put one in my nieces' CRV, and I put the sensor right there in the door jamb of the drivers door. There's too much heat from the engine to put it out front.

I am sorry, it is by the fuse relay box on the right engine side behind the firwall in the engine area.

If you can post a pic and show what your talking about, but the relay box is on the left side ( drivers side ), up by the firewall. The horns are out behind the front bumper.

standing outside of the car and infront of the engine, the relay box on the right side. I will post a picture soon hopefully that will clear up.

That is true, if you are facing the front of the car, it is the right side. But laymens term, it's the left and the passenger side is right. We go by when your sitting in the car. But now I know you are talking about the relay box.

But back to the orginal question, I would move the sensor out of the engine area and place in the door jamb away from the engine heat.

I see the new 2010 has a temp guage, I'm thinking of getting a auto dim /compass/temp/ mirror where does the factory install the sensor........is it not behind/under the front bumper?? Where in the door jamb did you install the probe???

Right up there around the inpanel and front pillar garnish. I ran the wire behind the pillar garnish and underneath the open seal. Then I placed the sensor on the jamb.

It may still pick up heat from the engine.

sure, it is picking up the heat as the temp display show about 7 to 10 F higher. So I need to move it to another location. can someone post a pic where they placed their temp sensor?

Hey nick,

I got mine in the door jamb. But is that sensor really that big or is that an alarm horn there also? If thats the sensor, you'll be limited on where you can place it.

Maybe behind the cowl in the wheel well, there's alittle room in there.

The sensor is that 2 1/2" long piece behind the Alarm horn, it's about 1" thich with the clip. I like to place it in the door jam but not sure exactly where would that be.

Actually when you open your front door there is an opening behind the front fender. That could be a good place also.
