We're going to get a hitch mounted bike rack for our 07 CRV.
Who likes what, and why?
1.25" or 2"?

If you have a hitch with the 2" receiver, get a bike rack with 2" to match. It will be much stronger. The issue is not the weight of the bikes. It is the leverage you are putting onto the hitch with an extended bike rack. Remember, you are technically limited to 100 pounds of tongue weight and by having say 4 bikes and a long extension for that rack to stick out far enough, you get some serious additional leverage applied to the hitch. (1-2 bikes won't be an issue)

I highly recommend a SoftRide rack. That is what I got. It is a good design the way it rotates away from the rear gate for access.
Just make sure you match the reciever (1-1/4 or 2")

I needed the type that the wheels hold up the bike. It fits 2 in. or 1 1/4 in. hitch. It comes in 2 & 4 bike models. I put a 2 in. hitch for compatibility issues with other things. It is pretty heavy duty and makes for a solid base for the bike rack. The rack folds up into a small size and sits pretty far out(2 bike model). It also folds down for full access to the rear hatch. I needed the wheel mount as my top tube on the mountain bike is not compatible with a top tube mount carrier.

I installed Yakima racks on my V and then installed a Yakima High Roller bike rack on them. Great bike rack, it only takes seconds to get your bike on or off. I also installed a 1 1/4" Drawtite trailer hitch. I went with the 1 1/4" because I did not want a large hitch showing. This is a class 1 hitch that has a rating of 200 pounds tongue weight and can tow 2000 pounds. My primary use of the hitch is for a Yakima bike rack. I use it for my friends bikes. I'll include a couple of pictures of the car. I installed all of it myself.
