AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I'll drive my 05 SE until the wheels fall off. Or, maybe I'll hunt around this fall and see whether my local dealer is giving any deals on their remaining 06 CRVs. They had 30 in stock, last time I checked. A nice 06 Pewter SE could be real nice, if the price is right.
JB
I won't be sure until I actually see and drive one, but I think I like it and will buy one. Not sure about the front end, but the rear looks good. Anything without an external wheel hanging there (like a 1945 army vehicle ;)) is a vast improvement.

Excellent link Alpine, thank you. The photos convey the 07's nuances and "presence" much more effectively.
Though not a bad design, it's a bit more stylistically gratuitous than I care for. The lower body's molded nubs are an SUV cliche that, while reasonable for the bumpers, is kinda silly on the rocker panels. The front and rear fascia seem unduly busy, an overwrought attempt to differentiate the V from class rivals (albeit a tricky challenge, in a market segment that doesn't embrace much variation). Though near-heresy to suggest, the signature tailight stack might better have been eliminated for the sake of a cleaner D-pillar and slightly larger cargo windows, for improved visability. (As the stack configuration has been co-opted by Volvo, Mitsubishi and others, its "signature" value is anymore somewhat debatable.)
On the plus side, I luhhhhv the seven-spoke alloys and the body's sweeping profile, which has an almost German allure to it. If Honda can promise a 5-speed manual, I might yet be able to forgive the other stuff. Maybe.

I'll withdraw my previous objection until I have a chance to see the front grill layout in person. I'm really interested to see how the lower grill flows into the bottom of the headlight area and the front lower edge of the hood/upper grill.
Time will tell....

Wow..............yech.............I'm so totally happy I bought an '06 and didn't wait for Honda's rather lame attempt at a Lexus look alike. To my eye it has a feminine aspect I don't care for...........
Those last two pictures posted by Alpine are great.
Medfest. If I could borrow some of your words, "Wow.............I'm so totally happy I did not buy an '06 and waited for Honda's attempt to bring the CR-V into the 21th century. :D

Wow...interesting stuff. Those last couple pics especially. Thanks for sharing.
Is it just me, or is the new CR-V simply WAAAY different?

Looks like Honda is copying the Acura MDX / Honda Pilot model. The CR-V pics look like a Honda version of an Acura RDX.
Makes sense to consolidate the model line.
So well have the Acura MDX / Honda Pilot pairs, and Acura RDX / Honda CR-V as pairs. We've got a Honda Ridgeline... does that mean we'll see an Acura version of the Ridgeline?

Thanks for posting the comparison. That makes it even more obvious. Smart move on the part of Honda.

Introducing the new 2008 Acura Everblade... seriously, it isn't a Ridgeline...

It's not so bad looking. A little busy in the front. Side profile has a bit of the BMW X3/X5 looks. Rear is fine looking. Overall more wagon like or crossover then SUV. Not quite my style. But this more in line with the current and future market is going to buying. Smart move by Honda. Can't wait to see the interior.

Funny, Lou... it's going to be interesting when this thing really hits the market. This is no longer the CR-V we have come to know for many years now. You're right.
There's always the Element, ya know. ;)

I'm sorry that my first post here has to be a negative one, but that is just plain awful.
I do realise that Honda is on a mission to win a new audience, but why such a change? I can only see this new design alienating a very loyal fanbase. For me the interior and engineering would have to be absolutely unbelievable to even think of going for one, but I just don't think I could get past the looks.
No, for me Honda, with this design has just become a sheep along with the other manufacturers. Why follow when you've been used to leading?
Oh, Hi to everyone.

Not good but better.......

Hi.
Leading? How? With a wheel bolted to the rear? That's world war II style. They want to increase sales. Ford Escapes have been beating them in a big way (In North America, anyway.) Why? Because they're better? I doubt that.
The way to do it is to bring their design up to date. I have not actually seen one yet, but judging from the spy shots, that is exactly what they did.
I am looking forward to actually seeing all the details. Maybe I'll like it. Maybe I won't. :) But thank God the ugly spare is gone.
IMO.

What? Surely that must have been before you saw the photographs. Or are you just kidding?
Kia Sportage? The new CR-V looks completely different. (And I'm not taking sides which one looks better.) The only similarity that I can see is that they both have four wheels. :D

it's the ugly new grill... that's what I saw coming at me with the Kia and I thought it looked like the new V's mess

WHY HAS HONDA DONE THIS???? Why do they feel need to confuse the brand with Acura, Toyota, Nissan, Infinity and Lexus? The CRV WAS a standout! Clean lines and wasn't trying to be something it wasn't!! It is not a sports car!! Why do they insist on trying to make it look like one!!!
I am excited about the new features such as NAV, but I am going to be hardpressed to swallow driving down the road in this thing. YUK...EuHHH!!!
I needed a midsize SUV for 400-800 miles a week of driving, carry 3 large adult passangers and to carry lots of stuff. If I wanted stylish and swooped backend I'd buy an Acura, RAV or Matrix. If I didn't care about generic looks I'd buy the Escape (roomier & Hybrid - but its a Ford)
COME ON HONDA!!

Simple solution. Don't buy one. Excited by NAV? You're lucky. They are available everywhere. :D
