View Full Version : Not enough storage

I just bought an 07 CR-V after owning an Accord for 10 years. The one thing I am seriously missing is the storage console between the two front seats. Although the CR-V has two glove compartments (VERY SMALL ONES, I might add), it is quite a reach to try to lean across and open the main glove box while you are driving.

Is there a larger storage console that can replace that silly fold-down tray between the two front seats?

I wonder if you could buy one and install it?

was this ever resolved? I'm concerned about the same thing on the LX I'm about to buy.

If you want to spend they money to buy all the pieces it can be done. Over on the Element board a few of our members installed the full console from the Element SC in other models. It wasn't cheap but it can be done.

I don't have the time to look for it, but 2RedVs posted a diagram of all the parts required to install the console in another thread. Mind numbing. It would certainly make a nice dealer installed option if it were in a prefabricated package (that you could buy off of H&A and install yourself).

I am stunned with the design that seems inherent in almost every aspect of this vehicle. Put 79 miles on it today, first drive, and everything seems thought out. I have owned previously two Ford Escapes.

However, I too could not figure out the purpose of the center folding? table? Let me think? Put coffee and bun on the table, push the lever, and it all falls on the floor? And then try to open the ubiquitous, in every other vehicle I have owned, sliding door covering the CD storage compartment, and voila, nothing! Just a plastic undesigned, useless, wasted space, in an otherwise faultless interior!

Could Honda please explain this weird, if I may be so bold, assessory to an otherwise intelligent design? Maybe a Honda engineer could explain. Cheers.

If Honda would market the EXL center table, non-folding, with CD storage area, as an after thought, I am positive that they would sell every one.

Maybe a recall is in order? Later.

The folding table was designed primarily for the female demographic its meant to fold down so you can put a purse or hand bag in between the seats it works with one of my over the shoulder bags and is quite nice although it doesnt fit my laptop case which usually sits in the trunk. It is useful if you need access to a bag and can be used as a pass through as for the CD thing I don't know I have an 04.
