Hello all. I was wondering, I am buying a Black exterior CRV and was wondering what the best matching interior is for it. Black or tan. Keep in mind, I am getting a cloth interior, any ideas?

Also, someone told me they thought the crv was a feminine car, would you agree or disagree because I did read a review that said 60% of CRV's are purchased by women and I am a 25 year old male, you thoughts?

thanks

-Jeremy

I owned a 02 CRV (silver) with a black cloth interior and liked it because the seats didn't show dirt, even after 5 years.

In driving my 02V and now the 07, I must say the vast majority of drivers I've seen in ALL small SUV's were women.

Although in this and other CRV forums, most of the posters are men.

I have the black 07 CRV with black leather interior, and my friend has a black CRV with tan leather interior. (I just prefer leather and would suggest it if you can give up a few more bucks for it)

I like the black more, and my friend has said that they like the black interior more. To me... black on black is just a bit more hip/fresh/young, especially the black leather. However, there are cons... it could get really hot in there if you live in a hot climate, so beware. But if you can handle it, go for the black.

PS. I'm 25 and male.

Tan has always been harder for me to keep clean. I think black/tan looks more "european" (ie BMW) than black/black, but that's just me. Keep in mind that a black car with black interior will be harder to cool (I have black interior in mine now). Plus, too much black can look dreary and depressing (depending on the person) & make night driving difficult for some people, especially if you get your windows tinted (which many people with black/black do).
Girl car vs guy car: Who cares?!? If one is secure with themselves, it doesn't much matter. Heck, buy one & paint it pink! (kidding - please don't)
Keep in mind that if you have friends that are your age or younger, you might have to take some "barbs" from them & perhaps play "taxi", especially if you have more room in your car than they do in theirs. So if you can handle that kinda' stuff, go for it.
When I was 25, without and major performance upgrades, I wouldn't have thought about a CR-V, but I was relatively single & didn't need much room, so...
But keep in mind what car you are coming from. If, like me, it was a fast/performance car, the CR-V is going to be QUITE different - it might take some time to get used to. If you have a 20 year old "beater", it might be an overall upgrade.

My interior is tan. The very first thing I did was search for car seat covers. Custom covers are expensive, I have store bought covers and have sacrifice the use of the armrest. I know...dumb, but I want the interior to remain clean and stainfree.

So..my opinion is to get the black interior.

You'll probably have the 'V' for a very long time, the interior will not reflect the test of time when spills during your thrills occur.

The first thing my mother said about the black interior, "It will show all kinds of white lint." She was right. But then I told her that I could get an ivory (tan) interior. She said "Are you crazy, it will be filthy in six months." I have only had the car two days but black is cool, but it does show lint. It doesn't get that hot, and it may make up for some of your girley man fears.

Regarding the male / female thing. If you want the car who cares? You have to live your life to please yourself not what others think. Having said that, do realize that the CR-V is a sissy four wheeler. If you want to bash boulders or go hot rodding look elsewhere. If you want to drive like a sensible human being (of which women are of a high percentage) and have a reliable, totally cool car, don't worry about it. When your macho friends are sitting at home while their macho vehicles are being repaired, you'll be on the road spending your money on something else, not to mention the gas mileage.

Another way to look at it, women are often much more sensible then men. They often buy cars for value, and not because of excessive testosterone. There are some excellent venues for proving you manhood, but behind the wheel is not one of them. Buy the CR-V. Black with a black interior.

Someone mentioned pink. I once seen a huge Dodge Ram 1 ton dump. Chrome everything, fully detailed. Not scratch on it or in the bed, and it was painted pink. The front plate had a female nude silhouette with "Candy Man" written on it. Masculinity is relative.

BTW, I am 58, male, and just bought a CR-V after driving a mini-van for 8 years. You may want to discount everything I said. But if it makes you feel anybetter, there is something very London taxi-cab about our black CR-V. And everyone knows that London taxis are very macho.

We bought a Black CR-V two weeks ago and my wife insisted on the black interior. She said it doesn't show the dirt quite as much as the tan.

We have two dogs - a Lab mix and a pure bred German Shepherd, so hair and mud factor into our decisions. However, the investment in a rear cargo tray and a good, strong pet barrier will keep the mess in the back!

Tough choice on colors. Tan will get dirty faster but a black car w/ black interior will be HOT in the summertime. That AC will be pumping on high/recirculate for a long long time ...

Oh, I'm a guy and I don't mind driving the 'V'. I used to drive a Subaru Forester, and I didn't mind that either. If more ladies drive the 'V' more then men, so be it. That just means they were smart and picked a nice car that was reliable.

Rather have my 'V' then a 'manly' Explorer or something similar and find myself broken down on the side of the road or always at the shop for repairs ...

Hey everyone...new person here.

Spent the last three years on the Odyssey forums, but sold it for our new CR-V. Anyway, our Ody was black exterior with tan leather and it did get dirty, especially from blue jeans. So on our new V, we bought black with black leather. It is nice looking and should hide dirt much better. I am glad I am seeing people agreeing with that....

I'm a 65 year old man and I just bought a 2007 CR-V. I haven't even thought about it being a girlie car. We also have a 2005 Odyssey.

A yellow VW Bug with a flower inside .........Yes
Not the CR-V
