We just bought a 2007 Honda CR-V EX (love it).

I swear that somewhere during the process of buying the vehicle it said that the first service appointment would be at... 1,500... 2,500 miles... I can't remember specifically. Now I'm looking through the manuals and can't find any reference to that. I remember seeing this because I commented to my wife that it was similar to my motorcycle (also a Honda) which needed to be taken in relatively early to have the valves adjusted.

So what's the deal? Anyone know when the first service should be? Or should I just be waiting for the % to drop to 0 - 10%?

Thanks. It's driving me crazy that I can't find it anymore.

It is in the manual. You should not get your oil change until the Maintenance Minder reaches 15% or less. The MM also gives out other codes to the techs. It does more than monitor when you should get oil changes.

Oil and engine technology have drastically changed in the last 20 years. It is no longer necessary to get oil changes every 3,4,5,000 miles. Your manual also mentions NOT changing your initial oil fill early. It contains a high level of moly, which helps in engine break-in. However, do not be afraid to let your new engine rev high during acceleration runs. It is good for it.
