Somone was mentioning a buffer that everyone waves about on other forums. Would someone post what brand and model it is? I am interested in purchasing one. Thanks!
Its probably the Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher. I purchased one last year and wouldn't be without it when waxing or claying my cars.
As a former auto refinisher, I would classify a buffer as a high speed non-orbital machine used to buff lacquers or old dull finishes to a high shine. They can be dangerous due to the high speed, creating a lot of heat and actually melt or "burn" a new finish. Very dangerous in inexperienced hands.
The Porter Cable polisher is a great tool and very safe on your finish if you follow the directions and keep the speed down. No swirl marks, and a great shine. You can also buy a pad that has a circular recess in the center to place your clay bar, it really cuts down on the time to clay your car, especially if it is an older one that is in desperate need of a good claying.
